Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Games/Entertainment :: Simulation
About: cave9 is a gravity cave-exploration game. It's a first person 3D
version of the classic SF-Cave game. Your ship travels into a
procedurally-generated cave at constant forward speed, and you have to
control two diagonal thrusts to keep it from hitting the walls. As the
game progress, the cave will twist more and become more tight.
Changes: A new game mode, similar to the original SF-Cave, with only one
button. Better controls: use the up (or down) key to activate both
thrusts. Better README documentation. Audio and shaking feedback. Bug and
compilation fixes (now compiles in C99 mode).

Communications :: Chat
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Text Processing
About: Cypher is an AI program that generates the .rdf (RDF graph) and
serql (SeRQL query) representations of plain language input, allowing
users to speak plain language to update and query databases. With robust
definition languages, Cypher's grammar and lexicon can quickly and easily
be extended to process highly complex sentences and phrases of any natural
language, and can cover any vocabulary. Equipped with Cypher, programmers
can begin building next generation semantic Web applications that harness
natural language.
Changes: The HTML report interface has been updated to include a
paraphrase of input. cypher.report.html.refresh has been added, which
controls the refresh interval for HTML report pages. Pluggable
repositories are supported, and different Sesame SAIL implementations may
be used. A bug in HTML report that miswrote HTML files has been fixed. A
bug that caused SeRQL to be produced for SPARQL output has been fixed. A
paraphrase bug has been fixed.

[009] - deco archive file extractor 0.8
by P. Hartlich (http://freshmeat.net/users/phartlich/)
Fri, Apr 18th 2008 10:45
System :: Archiving
About: deco is a generic archive file extractor that has a consistent
command line interface ("deco 1.tar.bz2 2.zip 3.flac 4.rar 5.deb" will
just work) and consistent behavior (it never deletes archives after
extraction, extracts relative to the current working directory, and
extracts just verbosely enough, all unless explicitly requested
otherwise). It provides automatic handling of extractor gotchas by
creating an extraction directory if there is more than one file or
directory at the archive top level and by being able to fix strange
permissions. Dozens of archive file extensions are supported out of the
box, and adding support for others requires very little work.
Changes: This release fixes a Makefile error causing, on some systems,
"make install" to fail unless a previous version was already installed.
Support for the OpenDocument aliases to zip archives has been added. This
release uses the official dpkg-deb command to extract deb archives, which
correctly handles all deb packages. It has more liberal search for split
rar archive files. There are some code cleanups.

by Ron Burkey (http://freshmeat.net/users/rburkey/)
Fri, Apr 18th 2008 14:03
About: I'm Cross! is a script that installs cross-compiler toolchains that
target Microsoft Windows on a developer's Linux workstation. Additionally,
it installs cross-compiled versions of various libraries, such as
wxWidgets, GTK+, PCRE, libxml2, zlib, and pthreads-w32, as well as
installer (setup.exe) creation tools. This provides an easy way to set up
a Linux workstation to simultaneously build Linux and Windows executables
from the same source tree. Finally, it provides sample programs for each
supported library, to illustrate how one can compile cross-platform code
using these libraries and build installers for the resulting executables.
Changes: This release installs Fortran and Objective-C cross-compilers,
and includes sample programs for those compilers.

About: pacparser is a library to parse proxy auto-config (PAC) files.
Proxy auto-config files are a vastly used proxy configuration method these
days. Web browsers can use a PAC file to determine which proxy server to
use or whether to go direct for a given URL. The idea behind pacparser is
to make it easy to add PAC file parsing capability to any program (C and
Python are supported right now). It comes as a shared C library and a
Python module that can be used to make any C or Python program PAC scripts
intelligent. Some very useful targets could be popular Web software like
wget, curl, and python-urllib.

BHM. Postal (the mad postman) is a program that will deliver mail as fast
as possible via the SMTP protocol to test mail server performance. Rabid
(the mad Biff) will eat mail via the POP protocol as fast as possible and
measure POP server performance. BHM is the Black Hole Mailer to discard
SMTP mail. All messages sent via Postal have MD5 checksums appended, and
Rabid will check the MD5 to ensure that the messages are not being
corrupted.
Changes: This release really fixes the bugs that stopped it compiling on
GCC 4.3, and the majority of the warnings.

computed based on frequency of occurrence of each character of Language[i]
(French), and, for each submission, the corresponding definition will be
given in Language[j] (German).
Changes: Configured dictionaries remain persistent throughout session for
major performance increase. The dictionary parser has been rewritten to
eliminate abbreviations. Screensaver mode has been reintroduced. The
English dictionary has been updated from 1913 to 2003. Bugs in validation
rules were fixed. Feedback while loading was added. A bug affecting tile

[044] - WANPIPE 3.3.6 (Development)
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Fri, Apr 18th 2008 10:18
Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System
About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.
Changes: This release secures the bri restart logic to prevent possible
race conditions. It has updated firmware and numerous bugfixes.

Software Development :: Libraries
About: XmlBlaster is XML based MOM (Message oriented Middleware) with a
lot of features. It is a publish/subscribe and point-to-point MOM server
which exchanges XML-encoded messages. Communication with the server is
based on CORBA (using JacORB), RMI, XML-RPC, native socket, or a
persistent HTTP plugin. Subscribers can use XPath expressions to filter
the messages they wish to receive and add their own MIME-based filter
plugins. C/C++, Java, Perl, Python, VisualBasic.net, C#, and PHP client
demos are included in the xmlBlaster test suite, and Tcl and Python demo
clients are scheduled. XmlBlaster also provides a browser callback
framework, allowing browsers (Netscape, Mozilla, MSIE) to receive instant
callbacks over a persistent http connection. A security plugin framework
allows authentication/authorization in many ways. Currently there are
LDAP- and passwd-based plugins available.
