[001] - AcchaNi 0.2
by rosswerner (http://freshmeat.net/users/rosswerner/)
Tue, May 27th 2008 03:28
Education :: Computer Aided Instruction (CAI)
About: AcchaNi is a program that assists with learning Japanese. It is
cross-platform, requires no special Japanese fonts or encoding, has
built-in hiragana input, and supports iterative learning modes.
Changes: A single kanji is displayed and the user must type in a correct
"on" or "kun" reading. The answer is typed in romaji, but displayed in
hiragana, thus encouraging the use of hiragana. Kanji are grouped to
facilitate learning, and wrong answers are repeated more often.

be as search-engine friendly as possible, without using dirty tricks that
may eventually get you banned. Ananta tries to be as multifunctional as
possible without making things overly complicated. The UI tries to prevent
inexperienced users from causing irreversible damage.
Changes: A module removal error has been fixed. An installation error has
been fixed (after installation, it asked for update). A password
confirmation box has been added during installation. RSS feeds
(automatically generate from menus in articles), an RSS 'link' in the HTML
head (for browsers to detect RSS feeds on the page), and an RSS feed module
have been added.

[015] - DBIx::Perlish 0.40
by Grrrr (http://freshmeat.net/users/Grrrr/)
Tue, May 27th 2008 07:50
About: The DBIx::Perlish module provides the ability to work with
databases supported by the DBI module using Perl's own syntax for the four
most common operations: SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and INSERT. By using
DBIx::Perlish, you can write most of your database queries using a
domain-specific language with Perl syntax. However, the module is not
intended to replace all use of SQL in your program. The DBIx::Perlish
module quite intentionally neither implements nor cares about database
administration tasks like schema design and management.
Changes: Integer values that are not IVs internally in label syntax
expressions are now recognized. In regexes, the left-hand side can be a
full term now, not just a column specification. Case-insensitive regex
matching is emulated when possible.

Tue, May 27th 2008 19:53
Office/Business :: Groupware
About: Inverse SOGo Integrator for Thunderbird is an extension that
transforms Thunderbird into a pure "heavy" client for SOGo. Whereas the
SOGo Connector is meant for portability, the SOGo Integrator provides
"vertical" integration with the SOGo groupware server by making use of the
specific features it provides. The general features provided are: remote
administration of folder subscriptions, an automatic replication of user
folders and subscriptions, propagation of updates to chosen extensions
from a local update server, and propagation of default settings and
integrated GUI elements.
Changes: Some exceptions related to the handling of requests occuring from
a closing dialog were fixed. The calendar colors are now handled. The code

System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: Ortro is a framework for enterprise scheduling and monitoring. It
allows you to easily assemble jobs to perform workflows and run existing

HTML, text, CSV, or XLS), emails them, and sends notifications of job
results using email, SMS, Tibco Rvd, Tivoli postemsg, or Jabber.
Changes: This version includes some enhancements and one very important
security fix: a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability allows remote
attackers to inject arbitrary Web scripts or HTML. In addition to the
security fix, the Net_Nmap library was updated, making the autodiscovery
without OS detection faster. The capability to upload files for plugins
and the Web Service Test Plugin using SoapUI were added. The SimpleTest

[043] - Quackey 0.4
by M. Leo Cooper (http://freshmeat.net/users/thegrendel/)
Tue, May 27th 2008 10:13
About: Quackey is a somewhat simplified but mostly feature-complete
version of the Perquackey anagram word-building game. It runs in an xterm,
Gnome terminal, or on the console. The entire game is contained in an 11kb
Bash shell script, and a big chunk of that is instruction text and
comments. It was written as a "proof-of-concept," but the game is quite
playable (and fun) even in its preliminary release form. It requires the
author's "yawl" word list package or a similar word list installed in
/usr/share/dict. Playing Quackey is good practice for Scrabble and similar
anagramming games.
Changes: This release adds a script that lets a "bot" play a round of
Quackey. This is useful for having the computer replay a round that you
have just played, and for generating length-sorted word lists. It is not
necessarily intended for cheating at Scrabble.

Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: relman is a tool that takes your source code, runs the build, and
distributes the packages. A configuration file allows you to define
application-wide defaults in addition to information particular to
individual projects such as the source directory, package name, and the
like. Once set up, you just have to call relman with the name given to the
project plus the version to release. It calls pkgmake to build .tar.gz,
deb, and .rpm files, and then distributes them using FTP and/or SCP all
in one run.
Changes: RSync and sFTP have been added to the list of transfer methods.
Furthermore, the DescFile is now processed (if specified): plain text is
passed to pkgmake, and an HTMLized version can be transfered for use with
HistView's download class. Creation of that HTML version includes

[049] - rsyslog 3.19.4 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Tue, May 27th 2008 08:39
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among others, it
offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP,
writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more), email
alerting, fully configurable output formats (including high-precision
timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog message,
on-the-wire message compression, and the ability to convert text files to
syslog. It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to work
with the same configuration file syntax.
Changes: The main new feature is greatly improved authorization settings
for TLS peers. Rsyslog now contains a full implementation of IETF's most
recent additions to syslog-transport-tls. Certificates can now be verified
and authentication can be based on names inside certificates, including the
ability to use wildcard matches. The changed fingerprint syntax is also
supported (this requires a configuration change in existing
installations). A situation where imklog could cause 100% CPU utilization
was fixed.

at will, and graphics are re-scaled on the fly. Joystick devices other than
/dev/input/js0 may now be used.

[064] - WrapLinux 1.3
by H. Peter Anvin (http://freshmeat.net/users/hpa/)

System :: Boot
About: WrapLinux is a utility to wrap a Linux kernel, together with a
kernel command line and one or more initrd/initramfs files into a single
file in ELF or NBI format. This is required by certain boot protocols,
such as Etherboot/Netboot, and may otherwise be desired for consistency
reasons. It can be considered a replacement for the mknbi and mkelf
utilities.
Changes: This release adds support for generating Multiboot-compliant ELF
files for boot loaders that cannot load ELF files without a Multiboot
header. No Multiboot features are actually used, however; it just adds a
dummy header.
