freshmeat.net moves datacenters
by Patrick Lenz (http://freshmeat.net/users/scoop/)
Section: freshmeat
Sat, May 31st 2008 15:00
This coming Sunday, June 1st at 07:00 UTC (view this time in your
timezone) freshmeat.net will move out of the current location on the west
coast into the brand new SourceForge, Inc. datacenter on the east coast.
The switch itself should be brief. Please allow a downtime of 1-2 hours
though should the data synchronization processes not proceed as smoothly
as planned and tested. While we will shortly drop the TTL (time to live)
on our nameservers, you may still experience that access to the
freshmeat.net domain routes you to the old datacenter, in which case we
will redirect you over to the new one with a slightly changed hostname
your local nameservers are unlikely to have cached. We are also moving
onto brand new machines that have been re-installed from scratch. If you
experience any bugs or oddities in site behavior after the switch, please
don't hesitate to submit a trouble ticket through our contact page. As
always, please be as specific as possible to ease reproduction of your
problem and speed up the solution. Thanks for your understanding and
we'll see you on the other side.

Millions of people today still go through lives untouched by LCD screens
and laser mice, and all the Bachs and Shakespeares of history did
reasonably good work without them, so it must be possible. Is it
preferable?

Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale
About: Ah3 is an invoicing and inventory system for repair shops. It comes
configured for an auto repair shop but can be configured to handle any shop
with customers who have things to be repaired. It includes a customer and
vehicle database, the ability to generate invoices, and the ability to
track the repair history of a vehicle. It also tracks inventory, allowing
for parts with multiple vendors and costs and other information. Ah3 is
the successor to Autohouse II.
Changes: This version compiles and runs on Windows. Pre-built binaries use
Bitrock installers for the binary installation on both Windows and Linux.
These should contain all of the files required to run on any current Linux
or Windows platforms.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: Blitz templates is a fast PHP template engine written in C and
compiled as a PHP extension. It started as a php_templates replacement,
but developed into much more. It is based on extensible template
controllers (custom view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates
(simple logic in HTML). Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest
template engines for PHP, even though it's not trivial and makes Web
application closer to a smart MVC-like architecture model with maximal
separation of HTML from your code. It was designed for big high-load
Internet projects with a lot of complex presentation logic.
Changes: Internal methods policy was corrected. Now only two methods are
restricted in user methods and templates: load and parse.

Software Development :: Object Brokering
About: Skaringa is an API for Java and XML language binding. It transforms
Java objects into XML documents and back, and can generate XML schema
definitions for a Java class. Typical applications are data exchange,
object persistence, object transformation, and driving XML based
presentation layers. Skaringa is designed for speed and simplicity,
supporting a wide range of types. It works with all Plain Old Java Objects
(POJOs) and is not limited to special cases, like JavaBeans.
Changes: Runtime dependencies on third party libraries, like
commons-logging, have been removed. Production and test code were split.
The binary distribution doesn't contain the JUnit test cases any longer.

System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based
About: The STUBS Toolchain and Utility Build Suite is a set of scripts
designed to build one or more software packages by means of a pre-written
set of configuration files. Each configuration file encapsulates the
necessary build and install commands for a given package, and URLs are
included so source and patches can be downloaded as necessary. STUBS is
designed to both bootstrap and work within the Franki/Earlgrey Linux
environment (an extensible busybox and uClibc-based Linux boot floppy
produced by one of several example STUBS configurations).
Changes: This release officially kicks off the 0.8.0 stable series. New
and updated packages since 0.6.x include autossh, bzip2, findutils, file,
httping, udhcp, and wget.
