Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Validate is now working. When initializing a database, the trunk
branch is now created. Aspect factories now take a fully qualified class
name when instantiating a capability. As a result, COWDB2 is now fully
extensible.

  by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 13:13

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack. But
even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.

Changes: GNU Gettext support was added. The PAK file is now used for data
storage. There were also numerous miscellaneous mission tweaks and
bugfixes.

[010] - MJPG-streamer revision #63
  by Tom (http://freshmeat.net/users/Torx/)
  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 13:12

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Multimedia :: Video

About: MJPG-streamer takes images from an input plugin and streams them to
several output plugins. It is the successor of the UVC-streamer, so it
supports Linux-UVC V4L2 compatible webcams as input plugins. The most
popular output plugin is the HTTP daemon. It serves the JPEG input as an
MJPEG stream or simple snapshots to a HTTP client like Firefox,
VideoLanClient (VLC), or TCPMP. By using the camozola Java applet, browsers
like Opera and Internet Explorer can also view the stream.

Changes: This release fixes disruption of Firefox while streaming and some
segfaults. LEDs on Logitech (QC 5000, Quickcam Sphere AF, and QC 9000)
webcams can now be controlled.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: The Moonlight application framework was originally created as the
runtime framework of Moonlight|3D, but has evolved into a generic
cross-platform application framework for modular applications based on Qt
Jambi.

Changes: This release brings some bugfixes as well as a new color
selection dialog and improvements to the property sheet implementation: it
is now a plugin and each property sheet instance can now take a different
set of default editors overriding the global defaults. Also, it is now
possible to define property labels in sheet definition files, making these
sheets much more user friendly.

  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 13:14

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling
Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering

About: Moonlight|3D is a modeling and animation tool for three-dimensional
art. It currently supports mesh-based modeling. It's a redesign of
Moonlight Atelier, formed after Moonlight Atelier/Creator died in
1999/2000. Rendering is done through pluggable backends. It currently
supports Sunflow, with support for RenderMan and others in planning.

Changes: It is now possible to animate Moonlight|3D scenes and render
these animations. A split face tool and a new color selection dialog were
added. Additionally, this release brings a collection of small user
interface improvements. Internal changes in the program improve memory
usage and in some cases also performance.

  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 04:19

System
System :: Archiving
System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Nexenta Storage Appliance is designed and built to operate as a 2nd
tier storage alongside pre-existing commercial storage, providing online
continuation of data for months and years, with tapes relegated to archival
purposes only. The appliance is targeted for 2nd-tier NAS and iSCSI
applications requiring extremely low cost storage as well as dramatically
simplified provisioning, expansion, backup, replication, and archiving. It
can also be used as a primary NAS in businesses that wish to expand at
closer to commodity pricing. It supports unlimited snapshots, snapshot
mirroring (replication), and easy management of extremely large storage
pools.

Changes: This release added the ability to switch transport between HTTP
and HTTPS, improved auto-cdp observability, shows scrub-in-progress, fixed
a bug where the password was not correctly set for a newly created user,
added 'zfs list/get' and 'zpool list/get/status', updated NMC to support
write-cache enable/disable, and fixed many minor bugs.

  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 23:51

Multimedia :: Graphics
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
Software Development :: Widget Sets

About: Otk is a portable widget library for making graphical user
interfaces for C programs. It emphasizes simplicity for the application
programmer without eliminating capability. Based on OpenGL, Otk supports
Linux, Unix, and other OSs neutrally and efficiently. It is simple and
compact, and it strives for easy compilation and linking to other
applications. In seeking to address several issues associated with earlier
graphics APIs, Otk explores some interesting methods, such as
window-relative layout instead of pixel-based layout.

Changes: A file-browser bug that was introduced in a recent version has
been fixed. The file-browser now appears to operate correctly on all
platforms, once again.

[016] - Shell Flags 1.0.0
  by Kate Ward (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfsetse/)
  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 23:38

System :: Shells

About: Shell Flags (shFlags) is a library written to greatly simplify the
handling of command-line flags in Bourne based Unix shell scripts (such as
those run with bash, dash, ksh, sh, and zsh). Most shell scripts use getopt
for flag processing, but the different versions of getopt on various OSes
make writing portable shell scripts difficult. shflags instead provides an
API that doesn't change across shell and OS versions, so the script writer
can be confident that the script will work.

Changes: This release has been tested with several OSes (Linux, Solaris,
and Mac OS X) on several shells (bash, dash, ksh, pdksh, sh, and zsh).

[018] - Super CSV 1.5beta1
  by Dr. Kasper Graversen (http://freshmeat.net/users/kbilsted/)
  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 23:47

About: Super CSV is a CSV package for the Java 5+ platform. It operates on
streams rather than file names, so you can read and write files of any
encoding from any kind of source. It operates on maps and POJO beans, so
you don't have to convert to or from String arrays. It has a powerful
notion of a cellprocessor which enables you to regard columns in your CSV
files as real types such as numbers and dates rather than as strings.
Additionally, the processors can also act as a constraint mechanism,
enabling you to naturally specify constraints on your data.

Changes: Seven new cell processors were added. A few cell processors were
deprecated. BeanReader and BeanWriter now support method overloading of
get/set methods. Cell processors now only throw the SuperCSVException.
Handling of lines without the expected number of columns was improved.
Error messages were improved, more context information was added in the
exception and is available to the programmer.

[019] - sysstat 8.1.4
  by Sébastien Godard (http://freshmeat.net/users/godard/)
  Sat, Jun 21st 2008 23:49

System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: The sysstat package contains the sar, sadf, iostat, mpstat, and
pidstat commands for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system
activity information. The statistics reported by sar concern I/O transfer
rates, paging activity, process-related activites, interrupts, network
activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU utilization, kernel
activities, and TTY statistics, among others. The sadf command may be used
to display data collected by sar in various formats. The iostat command
reports CPU statistics and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The
pidstat command reports statistics for Linux processes. The mpstat command
reports global and per-processor statistics.

Changes: sar can now collect and display all CPU fields with its new
option "-u ALL". mpstat can now display per-CPU interrupts statistics.
mpstat now uses a separate option ("-I SUM") to display the total number of
interrupts for each processor. NFS v4 support was added to "sar -n NFS(D)".
