About: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a
CDR/CDRW/DVD recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications.
It supports CD/DVD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc-
and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include
IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed
CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW,
TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote
SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD writers.
Changes: A bug in the (unused by cdrecord) L1 Reed Solomon coder from
libedc was fixed. A first test version for an interactive cdda2wav mode was

Wed, Jun 25th 2008 11:40
System :: Diagnostics
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
About: check_logfiles is a plugin for Nagios which checks logfiles for
defined patterns. It is capable of detecting logfile rotation. If you tell
it how the rotated archives look, it will also examine these files. Unlike
check_logfiles, traditional logfile plugins were not aware of the gap which
could occur, so under some circumstances they ignored what had happened
between their checks. A configuration file is used to specify where to
search, what to search, and what to do if a matching line is found.
Changes: There was a bug when the sticky option was used from the
commandline.

[014] - DBIx::Perlish 0.41
by Grrrr (http://freshmeat.net/users/Grrrr/)
Wed, Jun 25th 2008 07:00
About: The DBIx::Perlish module provides the ability to work with
databases supported by the DBI module using Perl's own syntax for the four
most common operations: SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and INSERT. By using
DBIx::Perlish, you can write most of your database queries using a
domain-specific language with Perl syntax. However, the module is not
intended to replace all use of SQL in your program. The DBIx::Perlish
module quite intentionally neither implements nor cares about database
administration tasks like schema design and management.
Changes: Unfiltered updates and deletes are not allowed unless enabled
with an "exec".

delivery agents.
Changes: This release fixes denial of service vulnerabilities
CVE-2007-4565 and CVE-2008-2711. It also fixes a data loss bug with IMAP in
--keep --flush configurations. Fetchmail no longer complains about invalid
sslproto when POP3 CAPA probing fails. .fetchids and .fetchmailrc can now
be symlinks. fetchmailconf now quotes folder names when writing the
configuration. An --sslcommonname option was added to help working with
misnamed certificates. Several build systems improvements were made.

Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Flickcurl is a C library for calling the Flickr Web service API. It
handles the API signing, token management, and parameter encoding and
decoding, resulting in C functions for the Web services APIs. It uses
libcurl to call the REST Web service, and libxml2 to manipulate the XML
responses. The library supports reading photo, tag, and comments
information, the photo upload and searching APIs, and writing tags and
comments. It provides utilities such as "flickcurl" to exercise the API and
"flickrdf" to get RDF metadata descriptions out of photos, tags, and
machine tags.
Changes: Support for Flickr video in requests and responses was added. The
recent API additions for getting content type, getting safety type, and
getting geo perms were added to the library. A new RDF triples serializer
class was added for turning photo metadata into RDF which uses new

[035] - ns4 4.1.1
by Chris Mason (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrimaso/)
Wed, Jun 25th 2008 02:06
Utilities
About: ns4 is a configuration management tool which allows the automated
backup of just about anything, but it was designed for routers and
switches. If you are able to log into it through a CLI, you can back it up.
Commands are defined within a configuration file, and when they are
executed, the output is sent to a series of FTP servers for archiving. As
well as archiving configurations, it allows scripts to be run on nodes;
this allows configurations to be applied en masse and allows conditional
logic so different bits of scripts are run on different nodes.
Changes: This release improves support for enhanced connect methods for
nodes and proxies. The multi-hop proxy implementation was redesigned to be
more logical with regards to configuration. This release also fixes some
minor bugs.

Information Management :: Issue Tracking
About: WikkaWiki is a lightweight and flexible wiki engine allowing easy
management of Websites, in particular collective Web-based projects: it
provides an intuitive interface for modifying page content, tracking and
comparing revisions made by single users, and setting user access
privileges. It features W3 compliant XHTML and CSS output, several text
formatting options, categories, a GUI for editing pages, support for
images, tables, Flash objects, RSS feeds, FreeMind maps, advanced Access
Control List management, referrers management, and text search functions.
Designed for easy customizability, it aims at keeping its core as light as
possible while maintaining an architecture that supports extensibility
through plugin modules.
Changes: This is a maintenance release that includes no new functionality.
It addresses a couple of minor issues in 1.1.6.4, including some PHP5
compatibility issues. Error and informational messages in several actions
were cleaned up. Cookie handling is more robust. The installer was
simplified. XHTML output is now valid.

About: WiXer is a wiki compiler that uses a fully-specified grammar with a
git repository for versioning and an Ajax interface. It is designed for
those who know nothing about Servlets, and sits easily behind a static
content Web server. Rendering is done with Adam Megacz's WiX.
Changes: More name transitions were made. A JavaScript opacity effect that
slower computers can't handle was turned off.
