About: Otk is a portable widget library for making graphical user
interfaces for C programs. It emphasizes simplicity for the application
programmer without eliminating capability. Based on OpenGL, Otk supports

About: Photo Organizer is a Web-based multi-user photo management tool
that was designed for professional photographers. It offers a searchable
photo database that supports photo version control, a datebook with client
management, photo submission history, EXIF, IPTC, XML, and XMP, user
quotas, and printing labels and color brochures. It uses ImageMagick and
DCRAW to handle over a hundred image formats, and relies on PostgreSQL as
its database backend.
Changes: This release added support for importing/storing XMP sidecar
files, fixed several translation errors, enhanced memcached support for
static data, fixed a suboptimal SQL query and sped up the main photo view
page by at least an order of magnitude, and fixed a number of small bugs.

[034] - Pork C++ Rewriting framework 0.9
by Taras Glek (http://freshmeat.net/users/tglek/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 07:41
About: Pork is a C++ parsing and rewriting tool chain. Its primary purpose
is to perform automated refactoring of large C++ codebases. The core of
Pork is a C++ parser that provides exact character positions for the start
and end of every AST node, as well as the set of macro expansions that
contain any location. This information allows C++ to be automatically
rewritten in a precise way. It could be used as a backend to support
Eclipse-style refactoring of C++ code.
Changes: This version can parse all but one file in Mozilla when using GCC
4.2 to preprocess the Mozilla source.

[035] - portreserve 0.0.3
by Tim Waugh (http://freshmeat.net/users/tmw/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 17:29
About: portreserve aims to help services with well-known ports that lie in
the bindresvport() range. It prevents portmap (or other programs using
bindresvport()) from occupying a real service's port by occupying it
itself, until the real service tells it to release the port (generally in
its init script).
Changes: Multiple services may now be listed in a single configuration
file, and a protocol (e.g. UDP) may be specified for a service.

by peek (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelpeek/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 17:28
System :: Archiving
System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
About: RVM is an archive manager that uses rsync to manage backups of
multiple clients across multiple logical partitions (vaults). It has some
features that some other rsync-based backup schemes lack, such as being
written in C++, needing no scripts or other programs than rsync and any
binaries on which rsync depends (such as SSH), the ability to manage
multiple instances of rsync connections to separate clients in parallel,
the ability to use multiple logical partitions (vaults) in a configurable
fashion for purporses of redundancy and added reliability, and the use of
hard links for files that have not changed from one archive to the next.
Changes: This release fixes an rsync options parsing bug that would
result in an empty string argument passed to rsync.

[042] - rsyslog 3.19.8 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 17:23
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among others, it
offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP, SSL,
TLS, and RELP, writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many
more), email alerting, fully configurable output formats (including
high-precision timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, on-the-wire message compression, and the ability to convert text
files to syslog. It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to
work with the same configuration file syntax.
Changes: Most importantly, this release has a bugfix for TLS mode. A TLS
session was lost if the OS returned a retry request via the API. This
happened frequently on some platforms. The situation is now properly
handled. Feature-wise, error numbers have been added to most rsyslog
messages, making it easier to troubleshoot problems. There are also some
other minor improvements and bugfixes. This is a recommended update for
all development branch users.

Information Management
About: Scalable OpenGroupware.org (SOGo) is a project derived from
OpenGroupware.Org (OGo) with scalability in mind. The Inverse edition of
this project has many feature enhancements: CalDAV and GroupDAV
compliance, full handling of vCard as well as vCalendar/iCalendar formats,
and support for folder sharing and ACLs. The Web interface has been
rewritten in an AJAX fashion to provided a faster UI for the users,
consistency in look and feel with the Mozilla applications, and to reduce
the load of the transactions on the server.
Changes: Initial support for Apple iCal 3, fixed interoperability with
Courier IMAP (ACL and folder management), support for calendar tags for
eventual multi-calendar sync in Funambol, improved invitation window
appearance, a notable improvement in SQL performance, and minor bugfixes
and feature enhancements.

[044] - sqlDoInstall 1.6
by Mario Bucsics (http://freshmeat.net/users/bucsicsm/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 20:30
About: sqlDoInstall will help you to install new SQL scripts and keep
track of the versions applied to your Oracle database. It allows you to
rerun a failed script and restart from the point where it has failed in a
previous run. It does not apply a driver+script combination that has been
installed successfully. The "driver" and the supplied SQL uniquely
identifies your script across the database. It'll create two tables:
driverinst contains details, and driverinst_head contains a summary of the
installation process. SQL installation, schema upgrades, and version
tracking are easy.

[045] - Stunnix JavaScript Obfuscator and Encoder 4.2
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 20:24
Internet
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Stunnix JS-Obfus protects your JavaScript code from potential
analyzing/studying/reworking by unwanted parties. It's both an obfuscator
and encoder for the JavaScript/JScript source code. It converts the
JavaScript/JScript source files into highly mangled and obfuscated form,
making it extremely difficult to study, analyse, reuse, and re-work for
competitors or customers, while fully retaining functionality of the
original source code, and then encodes it afterwards, making it completely
unreadable. There are a lot of options to control all aspects of code
hiding, and full support for all syntax constructs. It is designed to be
multi-module aware.
Changes: ASP files with #include directives in them can be encoded
correctly now. Unicode byte order marker in HTML/XML files is never
corrupted if replacement of characters with entities is turned on for HTML
content. The Project Manager GUI ignores the case of filenames on
filesystems that are case-insensitive.

[046] - Syslinux 3.70 (Release)
by H. Peter Anvin (http://freshmeat.net/users/hpa/)
Tue, Jul 1st 2008 07:48
System :: Boot
About: SYSLINUX is a collection of boot loaders for the Linux operating
system which operates on Linux EXT2/EXT3 filesystems, MS-DOS FAT
filesystems, network servers using PXE firmware, or from CD-ROMs. SYSLINUX
has an advanced extension API and contains two optional menu systems. It
also includes MEMDISK, a tool for booting legacy operating systems from
non-traditional media like PXE or CD-ROM.
Changes: gPXE has been integrated with PXELINUX. This allows network files
to be accessed over protocols other than TFTP. TFTP no longer requires a
server that can present the "tsize" option. SYSLINUX has added VFAT long
filenames. chain.c32 can now access files directly when loading NTLDR
(WinNT) or kernel.sys, io.sys, or ibmbio.sys (DOS). chain.c32 can now also
install a drive-swapping stub for BIOS, which allows cross-drive booting of
Windows. The complex menu system should now work as advertised again. USB
keyboards have been fixed on some systems.

System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based
System :: Recovery Tools
About: SystemRescueCd is a Linux system available from a bootable CDROM
that provides an easy way to perform administrative tasks on your computer,
such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk or backing up
data. It contains a lot of system utilities (such as parted, partimage, and
fstools), and basic programs (such as editors, midnight commander, and
network tools). It also includes GParted, a Partition Magic clone that
makes editing partitions easy with its graphical user interface. This CDROM
aims to be very easy to use and accessible to everybody, and it also
provides advanced personalization features.
Changes: The default kernels were updated to Linux-2.6.25.07 with Reiser4.
The boot option "root=auto" was added, which detects the first Linux system
installed on the hard disk and boots it. A problem was fixed with Samba due
to bad case in the UTF-8 charset. The lvm package was fixed: the lvm1
support was broken, the lvm init script now starts after mdadm, and
software RAID works. ntfs3g was updated to 1.2531. The btrfs filesystem
module and utilities were updated to 0.15. The "mhdd" floppy disk image (a
low-level hard-disk diagnostic tool) was added.
