Information Management
Software Development :: Libraries :: Ruby Modules
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions

About: The Amahi Home Server is a Linux Home Server based on Fedora (and
later on Ubuntu). Your machine becomes a "Home Digital Assistant" or HDA
after the installation. Each HDA is a Fedora-based server targeted for home
and home office environments. It provides an iTunes server, calendaring, a
wiki, shared network storage, network backups, a printer server, VPN, and a
plug-in architecture built on Ruby on Rails.

Changes: Included in this update are features for the HDA control daemon
to support the upcoming platform improvements in user management and more.
Also included are small improvements in usability to the Amahi installer.

[002] - Aspyct 1.0 RC2
  by Antoine d'Otreppe (http://freshmeat.net/users/antoine_935/)
  Tue, Aug 26th 2008 15:19

Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules

About: Aspyct is a Python module that implements AOP (aspect oriented
programming). A wide panel of join points is already available, controlling
execution, arguments, print, etc. You may also define your own. It is
possible to define simple advice (functions) as well as aspect classes.

Changes: Aspyct engine has been fully rewritten to improve speed,
reliability, and flexibility. Advices do not recieve arguments anymore
(except atPrint). Use Aspyct.getCallData() instead. There are now only 5
join points left. PointCut is a bit more intuitive. A debug mode has been
added to prevent developers from going crazy. Conditional advices are now
available. You may now remove advices one by one. A prepare function was
added to wrap to-be-linked functions.

audio CD images directly (audio.toc files).

Changes: A bad command line option for mplayer was fixed. Mounting and
unmounting are now detected automatically to update the display. The
virtual file system structure can be much more flexibly configured. CDs can
be burnt from CDRDAO images. User actions were added.

About: MCS MyRoute helps diagnose connectivity problems with detailed
network routing discovery and analysis, providing visibility to
poor-performing networks and devices. It includes a Java applet that
enables remote users to easily test connections from the MyRoute server.
Essential diagnostic tools including traceroute, ping, reverse DNS, and
whois are combined into a single graphical interface that analyzes Internet
connections, reporting quick and essential data points for finding
connectivity problems. An IP location database identifies the geographical
location of IP addresses and Web servers, showing the path of an Internet
connection on a global map. The domain registration and network provider
contact information are reported for each hop of a network route for quick
problem reporting. Remote Agents enable two-way connection testing and
automated testing from remote locations, for on-demand testing to resolve a
customer problem or long-term continuous testing to build a baseline and
monitor connection performance.

About: Moose File System is a networking, distributed, fault tolerant file
system. It spreads data over several servers visible to a user as one
resource. For standard file operations, MooseFS, mounted with FUSE, acts as
other Unix-alike filesystems.

Changes: Better memory allocation in the Master's chunks module. Syslog
messages used only for debugging purposes were commented out. There is a
fix for a stack buffer overrun (by 4 bytes) in mfsmount.

About: nVentory is a Ruby on Rails application to manage inventory in
multiple data centers. It can manage server functionality assignment,
customer/server assignment, racking, and more. It can track which servers
are doing what, and where they are in your data centers. It allows you to
visualize server locations and rack space with GUI tools.

Changes: Ruby and Perl command-line clients were added. Both can gather a
bunch of data about a node and register it with the database. An advanced
search capability for nodes was implemented, allowing searching on any
aspect of a node (for example, show all nodes with an Intel CPU running
CentOS 4). The data model was simplified a bit, replacing various specific
types of grouping with a generic, hierarchical "node group" model.

[031] - PowerDNS Administrator 1.1.7

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
System :: Networking

About: PDNS-Admin, or PowerDNS Administrator, is a Web-based script which
aids in administering domains and records for the PowerDNS SQL name server
software. PDNS-Admin is targeted mainly toward individual domain owners,
but should be robust enough to be used in a larger capacity by an ISP or
other big host. For those who may not know, PowerDNS is a domain name
server application, much like BIND, but offering alternative backends for
the storage of domain information.

Changes: Master IP validation should only be done on SLAVE zones. Adding a
user did not send the username to the recipient. Attempting to edit a group
name through the AdminCP resulted in a crash. Entering an NS or MX record
incorrectly reported being the same as a CNAME record, even for other
domains. The missing chmod function still being used by skins and the DB
backup code has been restored. SOA records need to be deletable as well,
because importing domains using other utilities can duplicate them. Users
can now submit new domains under their own control.

Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: ppDrag is a drag'n'drop plugin for jQuery, which mimics the
interface of jQuery UI's Draggable. It currently supports a small subset of
its options, but the implementation is different, since ppDrag focuses on
performance. All major existing browsers are supported. This includes
IE6/7, Firefox1/2/3, Opera, Konqueror, Safari, and others.

Changes: Cancelling IE's default event action now works correctly.
Callbacks (only "stop" for now) receive the element both as "this" and as
an argument, just like jQuery UI Draggable. The jQuery UI version used in
this demo was updated to 1.5.2. It has received many optimizations and is
now signifficantly faster than before (though still not as fast as ppDrag).

their thumbnails according to the Orientation EXIF tag or a given angle. It
can put commentary into the Commentary and UserComment tags. Personal
details can be specified via XMP tags defined in a configuration file.

Changes: Thumbnail generation has been added. Aggregation can be performed
with an absolute path now, but on the same file system. A thumbnail image
for the contact sheet generator can now be in any format supported by
ImageMagick. The plain documentation was expanded, especially for the
contact sheet generator. The sample directory has been created with the
