Information Management

About: AgileWiki is an SDK for assembling software systems which are
fluid, easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever
changing requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics
programming paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Handles now use SoftReferences, and an LRU cache has been
implemented, so database size is no longer constrained by memory. On-line
helps have been implemented.

  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 09:30

Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode generation
process whenever your language needs change. The project supports most
major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, Code 128
(A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2 of 5, and
Codabar.

Changes: A bug that resulted in incorrect checksum handling for UPC-E
symbols was fixed.

[009] - FFTW 3.2
  by Steven G. Johnson (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevengj/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 09:32

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries

About: FFTW is a fast C FFT library. It includes complex, real, symmetric,
multidimensional, and parallel transforms, and can handle arbitrary array
sizes efficiently.It is typically faster than other freely available FFT
implementations, and is even competitive with vendor-tuned libraries
(benchmarks are available at the homepage). To achieve this performance, it
uses novel code generation and runtime self optimization techniques (along
with many other tricks).

Changes: Real-to-complex transforms, non-power-of-two transforms, and
multi-threaded transforms were made faster. Cell processor support was
added. MIPS paired-single SIMD support was added.

[029] - Remind 3.1.6
  by David F. Skoll (http://freshmeat.net/users/dskoll/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 20:32

Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: Remind is a full-featured calendar/reminder program featuring
sophisticated date calculation, moon phases, sunrise/sunset, Hebrew
calendar, alarms, PostScript output, an X front-end, multilingual messages,
and proper handling of holidays. It also includes scripts for making a nice
WWW calendar server.

Changes: A new OMITFUNC clause gives you additional control and
flexibility over "omitted days" calculations. The new evaltrig() built-in
function lets you evaluate triggers from within an expression. The new
weekno() built-in function returns the ISO 8601 week number of a date. The
"WEEK" special (supported by tkremind, rem2ps, and rem2html) lets you
annotate calendar output with the week number. Various other minor bugfixes
and enhancements were implemented.

[030] - rinse 1.4
  by Steve Kemp (http://freshmeat.net/users/skx/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 16:09

System :: Systems Administration

About: rinse is a simple tool which allows you to bootstrap a basic
installation of a number of RPM-based distributions on a Debian GNU/Linux
host.

Changes: This release allows the user to specify a file containing a list
of additional packages to install once a basic RPM-based system has been
bootstrapped. This facility makes it simpler to automatically create
per-role RPM chroots.

[031] - SMPlayer 0.6.5.1
  by Moritz Barsnick (http://freshmeat.net/users/barsnick/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 09:23

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
Multimedia :: Video

About: SMPlayer intends to be a complete front-end for Mplayer, from basic
features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like
support for Mplayer filters and more. One of the main features is the
ability to remember the state of a played file, so when you play it later
it will resume at the same point and with the same settings. SMPlayer is
developed with the Qt toolkit, so it's multi-platform. An executable for
Windows is also available.

Changes: The XDG Base Directory Specification for configuration files is
now followed. New options to configure the floating control were added. The
playlist can now work properly even if the output messages of mplayer are
not in English. The check for non-video media files was improved. More
options are now available for configuring SSA/ASS subtitles.

[032] - transcode 1.0.7
  by Francesco Romani (http://freshmeat.net/users/fromani/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 15:10

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: transcode is a text console video-stream processing tool. It
supports elementary video and audio frame transformations. Some example
modules are included to enable import of MPEG-1/2, Digital Video, and other
formats. It also includes export modules for writing to AVI files with
DivX, OpenDivX, XviD, Digital Video or other codecs. Direct DVD transcoding
is also supported. A set of tools is available to extract and decode the
sources into raw video/audio streams for import and to enable
post-processing of AVI files.

Changes: The code was updated to be in sync with lastest FFmpeg API
changes. The FFmpeg requirements were bumped. transcode now needs a recent
snapshot of FFmpeg to work. (Snapshots between r13582 and r15261 are known
to work; later versions are untested.) An avilib x86_64 portability problem
which caused avifix problems was fixed. Static linking of libavcodec is now
definitively unsupported.

  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 09:52

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: News/Diary
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: WordPress is a state-of-the-art, semantic, personal publishing
platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, and usability. It was
born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architected personal publishing
system. While primarily geared towards functioning as a Weblog, WordPress
is also a flexible CMS capable of managing many types of Web sites. In
addition to the basic blog functions, it also has an integrated link
manager (e.g. for blogrolls), file attachments, XFN support, support for
stand-alone pages, Atom and RSS feeds for both content and comments,
blogging API support (Atom Publishing Protocol, Blogger, MetaWeblog, and
Movable Type APIs), spam blocking features, advanced cruft-free URL
generation, a flexible theme system, and an advanced plugin API.

Changes: Many PHP notice messages were cleaned up. A new design was made
for Quick Edit. The Publish module was improved. Upload support was added
for MS Office 2007+ file types. Improvements were made to checkbox range
selections. Many other fixes and improvements were made to the admin
interface.

  by Ryan (http://freshmeat.net/users/pancake/)
  Sun, Nov 16th 2008 09:54

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3

About: Zina is a graphical interface to your MP3 collection, a personal
jukebox, a Podcaster, and an MP3 streamer. It can run alone, be embedded
into an existing Web site, or be used as a module in Drupal, Joomla,
Wordpress, Xoops, and others.

Changes: This release attempts to use the native routines of supported
CMSes to install, update, or remove databases. It also adds optional
configurable genre hierarchy for random playlists. Clean URLs should now
work with IIS and ISAPI Rewrite. It also fixes a few bugs.
