Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Animation
About: 3DMLW is a 3D engine that utilizes an XML based markup language. It
is capable of running as a plugin in common Web browsers and supports .3ds,
obj, .an8 (Anim8or) models, .blend (Blender) data files (experimental),
tga, .jpg, and .png textures, and .ogg sound.
Changes: Several tiny URI bugs were fixed. A .3ds parser bug that ignores
invalid/out-of-bounds indices was fixed. An HTTP out of connections bug was
fixed. The model viewer was enhanced. A skeleton position bug was fixed. A
bone color attribute was added. Some bugs were fixed in the installer. A
bug with threads was fixed, thus eliminating shutdown delay. Proper cursor
overlays were added. The capability to click and open links inside

by KeyMonkey (http://freshmeat.net/users/keymonkey/)
Wed, Nov 26th 2008 21:47
About: Andy's PHP Knowledgebase is a database-driven knowledge base
management system. It features bookmark friendly URLs, easy search with
browsing with article tags, article submission, and a professional and
attractive interface. It is intended to be used to store, manage, and
update article content for a knowledge base, but is very customizable and
enables any number of creative uses.
Changes: This release includes improvements to the index page, minor
tweaking of page elements, and improvements to login and logout.

[003] - Apache2::ModProxyPerlHtml 2.5
by Gilles DAROLD (http://freshmeat.net/users/darold/)
Wed, Nov 26th 2008 16:47
Internet :: Proxy Servers
About: Apache2::ModProxyPerlHtml is a mod_perl2 replacement of the Apache2
module mod_proxy_html.c, used to rewrite HTML/Javascript links for a
reverse proxy. It is very simple and has much better parsing/replacement of
URL than the C code. It also support refresh meta tag rewriting.
Changes: This release fixes the replacement of the URL value set to the
JavaScript method jsObject.src. The detection of JavaScript documents in
the content-type HTTP header was also fixed.

[004] - apparix 08-331
by Stijn van Dongen (http://freshmeat.net/users/micans/)
Wed, Nov 26th 2008 15:29
System :: Shells
About: Apparix allows one to bookmark directories and later jump to them
using the mark. By default, it acts as a replacement for cd and can be used
in the same manner, including the special behaviour for cd without argument
and "cd -". It is possible to directly jump to subdirectories of a
bookmarked directory. The contributed bash completion code facilitates
completion both on bookmarks and directories, but can be adjusted to
accommodate other preferences.
Changes: The bash completion code was changed to improve tab completion on
subdirectories of the mark. First, a bug was fixed where this completion
would include subdirectories of the current directory. Second, patterns
with no matching subdirectories will never generate an error but simply
stall completion, utilizing the bash nullglob option. A bug in the string
library, unlikely to have affected apparix, was fixed. Users may choose to
only update the bash functions.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: MIDI
About: GENPO (GENeral Purpose Organ) is a program which replicates the
essential features of any pipe, theatre, or reed organ. It reads a
description of an organ (a .org XML file) and presents a suitable user
interface for operating that organ. There are a number of high quality
organ "SoundFonts" freely available and the .org file maps the stop sounds
to organ manuals and stops. Other facilities such and couplers and presets
are available. You may connect one or more MIDI keyboards to GENPO to
provide the organ manuals, and you can even assign one to be the
'pedalboard' if so desired.
Changes: This release includes a move from Qt3 to the Qt4 library and a
significant bugfix for using more than 16 stops simultaneously. There are
other minor improvements to the GUI layout. Note that colors in .org files
should now be specified using SVG-compliant names.

implementation (AMF3 requests sent over HTTP) and ActionScript3 code
generation tools (Ant task and Eclipse Builder).
Changes: The Jetty/Continuation implementation of Gravity was broken,
while Tomcat/CometProcessor didn't scale well on heavy load. A new
experimental feature has been added: Producer/Consumer should now
automatically reconnect (and resubscribe) when the webapp is reloaded. Tide
is now compatible with Seam 2.1. Additionally, there is new experimental
Tide integration with plain EJB and Spring. A GlassFish security service

JavaScript for its server-side scripting environment, removing the need for
compilation cycles and reducing development costs while giving you instant
access to leverage the whole wealth of Java libraries out there. Helma
offers simple and codeless mapping of application objects to database
tables. In addition, an embedded object-oriented database performs
automatic data persistence of unmapped objects.
Changes: This release candidate contains numerous bugfixes and many minor
improvements, such as support for secure HttpOnly session cookies, logging
improvements, several changes to the way file paths to different resources
are resolved, and restored backwards compatibility with Java 1.4.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: Httpx takes over the front-line position of binding and listening
on the public address and port of your virtual Web hosting server. In this
role, it scans incoming requests looking for the HTTP/1.1 Host: request
header entity. Once the Host: value is found for a given request, it is
routed to a UNIX domain socket in the local file system located through a
database lookup. Over this UNIX domain socket, an inter-process descriptor
pass occurs to a Web server modified slightly to receive TCP socket
descriptors passed over a UNIX domain socket instead of binding, listening
for, and accepting TCP sockets. This allows vhosts to share an IP address
while having private, host-specific, potentially unique httpd contexts.
Changes: Parallel refreshes of the hostmap cache are now prevented as
originally intended, and a small memory leak at refresh has been
eliminated.

Wed, Nov 26th 2008 15:52
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Editors
About: Jaikoz is a powerful tag editor that allows you to organize, edit,
and correct thousands of audio tags with ease. Jaikoz has powerful
automation features. Jaikoz uses MusicBrainz and MusicIP, online databases
of over 5 million songs, which can match your songs automtically based on
the actual music as well as the metadata. Jaikoz uses a convenient
spreadsheet view to allow you to edit information very quickly and provides
many autoformatting tasks which do most of the work for you.
Changes: Artwork auto-formatting for Musicbrainz and Discogs now supports
an option to only populate if new artwork is of a higher resolution,
ensuring that artwork is only overwritten if a higher resolution image can
be found. Also, an option was added to only overwrite if the existing value
is empty or on the genre blacklist, allowing genres to be overwritten if
they have a blacklisted genre. An option was added to change the base
folder for a set of folders using a file dialog. Various bugs were fixed.

[028] - Mnemosyne Project 1.2
by Peter Bienstman (http://freshmeat.net/users/pbienst/)
Wed, Nov 26th 2008 12:20
Education :: Computer Aided Instruction (CAI)
About: The Mnemosyne software resembles a traditional flash card program
to help you memorize question/answer pairs, but with an important twist: it
uses a sophisticated algorithm to schedule the best time for a card to come
up for review. Difficult cards that you tend to forget quickly will be
scheduled more often, while Mnemosyne won't waste your time on things you
remember well.
Changes: Support for Unicode in filenames and directories was improved.
Compression of backups has been reverted from gz to bz2 again to circumvent
a bug under Windows with Unicode directory names. There is a plugin to
always shuffle the revision queue for users who want to override the
prioritized scheduling introduced in 1.1. The sound system is only opened
when needed in order to save CPU time. Upgrading from old Mnemosyne
versions was made more robust. A Norwegian translation was added.

Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
Games/Entertainment :: Simulation
About: Widelands is an economic and military simulation game. The map is
shown in parallel perspective with 3-dimensional terrain. Buildings and
units are animated. The player controls a tribe. Land is claimed and held
by military presence and then used to build an economy to support military
expansion and confrontation. The project is a work in progress where much
remains to be done; computer players and multiplayer are in very early
stages of development. Some features that have already been implemented are
exploration, fog of war, sound effects, background music, adjustable
simulation speed, a few tutorial campaigns, translations to several
languages, and a map editor.
Changes: Demand checks for production were added, so a site will not
deplete the supply of a ware type to fill warehouses with another ware
type, which easily caused deadlocks. Saved games can be loaded in
multiplayer games. The framerate was limited to reduce CPU usage. A
/me-command was added in multiplayer chat. Graphics were added for all
Atlantean buildings. Maps, songs, and sound effects were added. The syntax
of some game data formats and tribe economies was cleaned up. Many bugs
were fixed. Many parts of the UI were improved.
