[001] - AceWiki 0.2.10
by Tobias Kuhn (http://freshmeat.net/users/tkuhn/)

Information Management
Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
About: AceWiki is a semantic wiki that is powerful and at the same time
easy to use. Making use of the controlled natural language ACE, the formal
statements of the wiki are shown in a way that looks like natural English.
In order to help the users to write correct ACE sentences, AceWiki provides
a predictive authoring tool.
Changes: Proper names can now have an abbreviation. There is a new search
text-field in the side menu. Statements having property chains in their OWL
representation are not considered any more for reasoning. This ensures that
the global restrictions imposed by OWL 2 are never violated. Due to a bug
of Firefox 3.0.x, Echo applications have problems when umlauts are entered
in the interface. The class HeaderControlFilter implements a workaround for
this problem. There are several other improvements and bugfixes.

by Haypo (http://freshmeat.net/users/haypo/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 12:14
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Scientific/Engineering :: Physics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Hasard is a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) library. It
includes multiple engines (algorithms): Park-Miller, Mersenne Twister,
Linux device (/dev/urandom or /dev/random), and more. It has a simple but
powerful API. For example, a PRNG seed can be generated using strong
entropy (using a hardware random number generator like /dev/random on
Linux). The library is written in C, and a Python binding is available. The
word "hasard" is the French word for "randomness" or "chance".
Changes: The hasard_int8/16/32(), hasard_uint8/16/32(), and
hasard_compare_version() functions were created. hasard_engine_ulong() was
reimplemented using the algorithm from GSL, which has no more bias and only
uses the unsigned long type (don't use GMP anymore). hasard_engine_pow2()
now uses hasard_engine_ulong(). A version was added to the file format
(plain text file). hasard_dev_bytes() doesn't fill a buffer with zeros on a
read() error. The --quiet option was created for gen_files.py and
file_info.py.

[032] - phpRemoteShell 0.10
by Emmanuel Saracco (http://freshmeat.net/users/esaracco/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 00:00
Desktop Environment :: File Managers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
System :: Networking
About: phpRemoteShell is an all-in-one Web application to manage servers
remotely. It contains a full-featured file manager, the ability to execute
shell commands or PHP code, crontab management, and zombie management. It
can also host itself into existing files and auto-deploy during their
execution. In case it has been previously encrypted, it is able to
self-decrypt on the fly.
Changes: Now PRS can be downloaded directly by passing the "prsds=" URL
parameter when calling it. Note that this feature will not work if you
previously defined authentication to true, or if you have encrypted it.
Many problems with PRS remote inclusion have been fixed. Now it can easily
be included remotely by exploiting require*/include* calls. A script has
been added to strip PRS from comments and useless spaces. This script is
automatically used before PRS encryption. Some new displayed information:
client IP, vhost IP, and remote routing table.

[033] - Power*Architect 0.9.12-RC3
by SQL Power (http://freshmeat.net/users/sqlpower/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 21:28
Database
About: The Power*Architect is a data modeling tool with additional
features geared specifically for data warehouse and data mart design. It
allows the designer to open multiple concurrent source database
connections, create and explore profiles of the source data, discover
differences between two schemas (even if they're on different database
platforms), drag and drop source schemas, tables, and columns into the data
modeling playpen, and forward engineer the resultant target database and
its associated ETL template.
Changes: This release candidate makes a couple of bugfixes to the previous
release candidate. Major fixes include a fix to a error caused by a missing
dependency when creating a New Measure in the OLAP Schema editor, and a fix
to an error when using the Copy Table feature to copy data to a table in
MySQL.

Communications
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Networking
About: pppd-sql is a plugin for the Point-to-Point server (pppd) on Linux
and Solaris that adds an authentication backend using a MySQL or PostgreSQL
database for the Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) and
Password Authentication Protocol (PAP). It supports MS-CHAPv1 and MS-CHAPv2
too. The IPCP negotiation after authentication handshake is also supported.
pppd-sql supports a flexible configuration scheme, has built-in failover
functionality (no load-balancing), and comes with easy and handy
documentation.
Changes: In this version, the support for Password Authentication Protocol
(PAP) via MySQL or PostgreSQL was added. There is no longer any requirement
to build every database backend, since they can be select at configuration
time. A small bug regarding the misinterpretation of the
"--with-plugin-path" switch was fixed too.

[037] - Rally 0.4.91
by Maxim Udushlivy (http://freshmeat.net/users/maxim_udushlivy/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 16:23
Desktop Environment :: Tools
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Software Distribution Tools
About: Rally is a software component with a user interface which allows
you to install, update, and remove packages on RPM based operating systems.
Primary functions (downloading software packages from network repositories
and their installation) may be performed in parallel, giving a vast
performance boost in many typical situations. The user interface is split
into two independent parts: a graphical one and a command line utility. The
graphical interface contains package searching and category browsing
functions. Rally assumes the Fedora project as a reference platform.
Changes: This release fixes a critical bug related to a redundant close(2)
call in FileWriter (a possible cause of the "sporadic EBADF" problem),
fixes a GUI crash which happened after changing a list of active
repositories, adds a fallback timeout handler for the downloader (fixing
the "downloader timeouts" problem), includes changes for RPM 4.6
compatibility, and implements tabular output in the CLI utility with the
usage of pseudographics.

[043] - XGuests 1.1.0
by tinkertim (http://freshmeat.net/users/tinkertim/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 11:33
System :: Systems Administration
About: XGuests is a program to display useful information about guests
running under the Xen hypervisor in a variety of formats. Formats include:
XML, PHP, Perl, bash, text, and more. Additionally, xguests will run as a
daemon and continuously update statistics files which other scripts can
easily include. This avoids scraping the output of "xm" and other tools.
Xguests does not rely on the xend daemon to be running. It gets statistics
significantly faster than its Python counterparts on systems that house
many guests.
Changes: Xguests is now using autoconf and builds libxenstat internally,
eliminating the dependency on the Xen source tree. The code base has been
reorganized and hooks for future SQLite3/MySQL logging support have been
added.

[044] - Zibu 0.3.4
by urug (http://freshmeat.net/users/urug/)
Fri, Nov 28th 2008 21:26
System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: Zibu is a small tool that allows you to cyclically compare access
permissions and checksums of files provided by users, with a database
generated at first run (to be exact, generated with --init or --update
mode). But its main feature is restoring valid access permissions, and/or
executing your commands when checksums are invalid.
Changes: In --update mode, zibu didn't copy the command from the old
database if the new one wasn't applied. There is some code reorganization.
