[011] - GNU SIP Witch 0.4.0
by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 08:00
Communications :: Telephony
Office/Business
Security
About: GNU SIP Witch is a pure SIP-based office telephone call server that
supports generic phone system features like call forwarding, hunt groups
and call distribution, call coverage and ring groups, holding, and call
transfer, as well as offering SIP specific capabilities such as presence
and messaging. It supports secure telephone extensions for making calls
over the Internet, and intercept/decrypt-free peer-to-peer audio and video
extensions. It is not a SIP proxy, a multi-protocol telephone server, or an
IP-PBX, and does not try to emulate Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or Yate.
Changes: This release represents the first minimally deployable baseline
sipwitch server. This release includes multipath calling and basic call
forwarding features. Also important with this release is stabilization of
core management APIs, including SWIG interfaces for local scripting
languages, and XMLRPC CGI for remote access, so that management and
administration services can now be built for sipwitch. Support for changing
server state is also complete, such as for "day"/"night" modes, holidays,
etc. This release offers basic call traffic statistics and call detail
record processing.

[014] - j-Interop 2.05
by Vikram Roopchand (http://freshmeat.net/users/vikramrc/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 16:16
Software Development :: Object Brokering
About: j-Interop is a Java Open Source library (under LGPL) that
implements the DCOM wire protocol (MSRPC) to enable development of Pure,
Bi- Directional, Non-Native Java applications which can interoperate with
any COM component. The implementation is itself purely in Java and does
not use Java Native Interface (JNI) to provide COM access. This allows
the library to be used from any Non-Windows platform. It comes with pre-
implemented packages for automation. This includes support for IDispatch,
ITypeInfo, and ITypeLib. For more flexibility (in the cases where
automation is not supported), it provides an API set to directly invoke
operations on a COM server.
Changes: A comparison has been made with the published MS DCOM
specifications and any differences that could be found were reconciled. Of
course, j-Interop does not fully implement the Bi-Directional feature, so
those parts of the protocol have been left out.

[016] - Kundo 0.9
by Ben Leedham (http://freshmeat.net/users/ben_leedham/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 16:36
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing
About: Kundo provides a structured, convention based approach for Java
builds. Kundo has a pluggable, extensible architecture; it harnesses the
power and flexibility of Groovy and Ant to provide a highly configurable
Java build framework. Kundo achieves this flexibility with a plug-in
architecture that attaches behaviors (provided by Kundo plug-ins) to build
lifecycle phases. Kundo consists of a kernel and a set of foundation
plug-ins. The kernel is responsible for the orchestration of the multiple
collaborators within the build system.
Changes: Kundo has moved away from only integrating with Maven and Ant and
into being a build system in its own right. You can specify dependencies in
the recipe, specify artifact information in the recipe, specify modules in
the recipe, Specify repositories to deploy or download from in the recipe,
and specify parent recipes to inherit from. Builds can be executed using
the kundo executable as well as the ant executable. Version declaration was
externalized, providing a simplified release process. Reactor build
handling was improved, all phases are cascaded individually through
sub-modules. A Kundo only sample application was added.

[018] - LimeSurvey Unstable 1.80RC4
by Carsten Schmitz (http://freshmeat.net/users/cronostitan/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 16:12
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: LimeSurvey (formerly PHPSurveyor) is a Web application that
interacts with MySQL, MSSQL, or Postgres to develop surveys, publish
surveys, and collect responses to surveys. Once a survey has been created,
data can be inserted into the survey either by a "pretty" public screen
which presents each question one at a time, or by a quick and nasty data
entry screen. It includes the capacity to generate individualized "tokens",
so that invitations can be issued to participants. It also has the capacity
to set conditions on whether questions will display (branching), numerous
question types, and a basic statistics function.
Changes: Results may now be exported to the R data format. A function to
iterate a survey was added. A new question attribute, "alphasort", was
added to sort a list of radiobuttons or a dropdown list alphabetically. The
numbers_only attribute was enabled for Array (Multi Flexible Text). Several
translations were updated. About 30 bugs were fixed.

by Sasha (http://freshmeat.net/users/gsasha/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 01:06
System :: Archiving
System :: Archiving :: Backup
About: Manent is an algorithmically strong backup and archival program. It
features efficient backup to anything that looks like storage. Currently it
supports plain filesystems ("directories"), FTP, and SFTP. Planned are
Amazon S3, optical disks, and email (SMTP and IMAP). It can work (making
progress towards finishing a backup) over a slow and unreliable network. It
can offer online access to the contents of the backup. Backed up storage is
completely encrypted. Backup is incremental, including changed parts of
large files. Moved, renamed, and duplicate files will not require
additional storage. Several computers can use the same storage for backup,
automatically sharing data. Both very large and very small files are
supported efficiently. Manent does not rely on timestamps of the remote
system to detect changes.
Changes: Fixes to status printing of Unicode files under Windows. An
automatic release script (again).

[020] - MIN 2009w07
by Sampo Saaristo (http://freshmeat.net/users/zampo/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 15:58
Software Development :: Testing
About: MIN is an advanced unit/integration test framework for Maemo/Linux.
It supports test cases written in C (or C++) as well as scripted test cases
with (a tailor made) MIN scripter, Lua, or Python. Test cases are compiled
into test modules that are loaded dynamically. A test case is executed in a
separate process.
Changes: A bug in timed scripter loops was fixed. A bug in compelete
command syntax validation was fixed. A bug causing MIN to get stuck when
cases are still running on exit was fixed. Memory leaks in logger and
syntax validation were fixed. Non-reentrant function calls were removed
from signal handlers. A bug that caused the logger to segfault when a log
message is too long was fixed. The breakloop keyword was added to the
scripter syntax. if-else statement support was added to scripter syntax.
Scritpter internal variables (such as FAIL_COUNT) were added.

Wed, Feb 11th 2009 10:40
Software Development :: Internationalization
Software Development :: Localization
About: Openbakery Translation is an internationalization tool for Java.
Unlike standard i18n in Java, openbakery translation uses the text in the
default locale as the key. There is also a tool which checks all of the
source code for translations. This tool then provides a list of key/value
pairs which have to be added to a certain resource file, and another list
of pairs which can be removed. The translation works by simply calling a
static method called "translate". The code works out of the box, without
writing any properties files. You only write properties files when you
really translate the program to a second language.
Changes: Multiple properties files are supported. Output from the
translation checker was improved so that it creates sections for the
classes or properties files where the translations were found. Handling of
hierarchical locales was improved so that the translation checker now
creates a list of translations which are indirectly defined for a given
locale. Some minor bugs in the old features were fixed.

[029] - PNGwriter 0.5.4
by individual61 (http://freshmeat.net/users/individual61/)
Wed, Feb 11th 2009 08:54
Multimedia :: Graphics
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Scientific/Engineering
About: The PNGwriter library, which requires libpng, allows you to plot to
a 48-bit PNG file, saving it directly to disk. Plotting is as easy as
specifying the red, green, and blue values and the x, y coordinates of the
pixel. It includes functions for plotting simple geometric shapes (circle,
rect, line), plotting text (UTF-8 support for Asian languages), reading the
colour of a pixel, reading in a whole PNG file (great for image analysis),
plotting and reading in HSV colourspace, and many others that might come in
handy.
Changes: filegamma_ was corrected from 0.5 in one constructor to 0.6 as in
all others. PNGwriter now handles a much greater range of input files with
readfromfile(). In general, the alpha channel is discarded gracefully. Some
issues remain: a PNG with information in the chroma chunk will not be read
too accurately, and a PNG with a transparency chunk will be read
incorrectly, though silently. Compiler warnings in drawtriangle() and
drawbottom() were fixed.
