Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management
About: Bugzero is a Web-based bug tracking, defect tracking, issue
tracking, and change management system used in a distributed team
environment to track software bugs, hardware defects, test cases, or any
other issues. It can also be used equally well as a helpdesk customer
support, trouble ticketing, or email management system to collect and
manage customer feedbacks, incidents, requests, and issues. It is easy to
use, but still flexible and adaptive, and can be configured to fit to your
organization's unique business process and workflow.
Changes: This release adds a new "original author user group" feature for
issue creation and query. Notification emails are no longer grouped by
default. For new email submission, the CC and To addresses of the email are
now saved into the issue CC.

Home Automation
Multimedia
About: Data Crow is a movie, video, book, image, software, and music
cataloger/media manager. Data Crow uses MusicBrainz, Amazon, IMDb, and many
other Web services to retrieve the information for you. It is highly
customizable, easy to use, and feature rich. It helps you to keep track of
your loans, allows you to create reports, enables you to create your own
modules (using wizards) and, most importantly, enables you to easily manage
all your collections.
Changes: A couple of important fixes are contained in this patch. It
enables Mac users to use Data Crow once again. The errors after upgrading
to Java 1.6.0 Update 12 have also been fixed.

[011] - Gujin 2.5
by Etienne (http://freshmeat.net/users/etiennelorrain/)
Wed, Mar 4th 2009 09:08
System :: Boot :: Init
About: Gujin is a PC boot loader that can analyze your partitions and
filesystems. It finds the Linux kernel images available, as well as other
bootable partitions (for *BSD, MS-DOS, Windows, etc.), files (*.kgz) and
bootable disk images (*.bdi), and displays a graphical menu for selecting
which system to boot. It boots the Linux kernel using the documented
interface, like LILO and GRUB, so it doesn't need any other pre-installed
bootloader. It can also directly load gzipped ELF32 or ELF64 files, with a
simple interface to collect real-mode BIOS data. There is no need to
execute anything after making a new kernel: just copy the kernel image file
into the "/boot" directory, with a standard name. Gujin is written almost
entirely in C with GCC, and it fully executes in real mode to be as
compatible as possible.
Changes: This release can compile and install on 64-bit based PCs without
any 32-bit libraries. A simple way was introduced to create a superfloppy
from an ISO CDROM/DVD image to boot from SD cards or USB drives. It has
basic support for the EXT4 filesystem and can now create a FAT32 filesystem
when initializing a USB thumb drive. It also has some bugfixes and other
small improvements.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: GWTruts is an easy-to-use framework for using GWT with MVC and
dependecy injection. It virtually divides a GWT module into view,
controller, and validation sections similar to traditional MVC Web
frameworks like Apache Struts. It also provides a dependency injection
mechanism similar to Spring, which you can use to customize your
controllers and views. It provides a page decorator where you can define
mappings between a URL and a group of controllers/views and sections of the
HTML files.
Changes: A ViewNameResolver Controller based on path was added. A
ViewNameResolver Controller based on controller (name/alias) was added. An
alias for controller names and view names was added. A parameter was added
to the PageDecorator mediator constructor that defines the pattern for
configuration files. The controller and views are context aware.

by Norbert Sendetzky (http://freshmeat.net/users/nsendetzky/)
Wed, Mar 4th 2009 09:25
Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries
About: The OpenDBX libraries provide a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The C and C++
libraries aim to implement access to the native database interfaces
efficiently via a thin abstraction layer. They consist of a basic set of
functions that are part of all vendor database libraries and can be
extended by additional function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS
SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are
supported.
Changes: The C++ API was fully documented and refined. The API is still
source code compatible to the last release, but subtle changes will make it
harder to use it in a wrong way. The documentation for the C++ API is
generated by Doxygen. Many hours have also been invested in the ODBC
backend, which has been tested with different ODBC drivers for MySQL,
PostgreSQL, SQLite, and MS SQL Server. Several bugs were fixed that caused
memory leaks or were able to crash an application in certain conditions.
Finally, OpenDBX should now compile flawlessly on Windows using MinGW.

About: PHP_Application is a platform for the development of event-driven
applications in which two mechanisms of distribution of events for two
levels of abstraction accordingly are realized. The first level are objects
and their events; the second, the application and its events. The mechanism
of distribution of events of the applications supports distribution of the
directed and broadcasting events, and also provides synchronous or
asynchronous processing events. The structure of the application represents
a hierarchy of objects with various levels of abstraction. Functionality of
the application is completely defined by a set of the objects included in
the application and interaction between them, i.e. a stream of events. The
structure of the application allows you to operate a stream of events
extending downwards on hierarchy of objects.
Changes: This version includes the LigrtOrm library. Many new classes were
added, such as Registry, and SqlQuery builder, and classes based on
Registry, such as Config, Session, Request, and more. The directory
structure of the project was reorganaized. Many bugs were corrected.

[029] - rdiff-backup 1.2.7
by Andrew Ferguson (http://freshmeat.net/users/adferguson/)
Wed, Mar 4th 2009 09:42
System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
Utilities
About: rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another. The target
directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse diffs
are stored in a special directory so you can still recover files lost some
time ago. The idea is to combine the best features of a mirror and an
incremental backup. rdiff-backup can also operate in a bandwidth- efficient
manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup and ssh to
securely back up to a remote location, and only the differences will be
transmitted. It can also handle symlinks, device files, permissions,
ownership, etc., so it can be used on the entire file system.
Changes: Python 2.2 compatibility was fixed. The program no longer crashes
when the file system can't set the requested ACL.
