[001] - ANTLR 2.7.5rc1
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Wed, Jan 5th 2005 19:10
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Interpreters
About: ANTLR (ANother Tool for Language Recognition) is a language tool
that provides a framework for constructing recognizers, compilers, and
translators from grammatical descriptions containing C++, Java, or Sather
actions. It is similar to the popular compiler generator YACC, however
ANTLR is much more powerful and easy to use. ANTLR-produced parsers are
not only highly efficient, but are both human-readable and
human-debuggable (especially with the interactive ParseView debugging
tool). ANTLR can generate parsers, lexers, and tree-parsers in either C++,
Java, or Sather. ANTLR is currently written in Java.
Changes: Numerous Java and C++ bugfixes. Documentation updates.

About: Attal is a turn-based strategy game. You can play it in stand-alone
mode (against an AI) or against other human players through a network. This
game is open and themeable in order to allow new graphics, new rules, new
campaigns, and new scenarios. A scenario editor and a theme editor are
provided.
Changes: "Castle" building was implemented. Connection management was
improved. The ability to destroy a unit was implemented. The "behavior" of
map creatures (flee/join/mercenary/attack) can be managed. The growth of
map creatures can be managed. RandomResource was rewritten. Usability
improvements include more information, a better buying interface, and
autoscrolling. Exchange units was partially rewritten. "groups" for
decorations were added. Autodraw paths and other small improvements were
implemented in the Scenario editor. The Theme editor was improved. AI was
fixed and improved with exploration, priorities for targets, and tuning
based on enemy power. Bugfixes were made.

[003] - Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript 2005-01-05
by Terry Burton (http://freshmeat.net/users/terryburton/)
Wed, Jan 5th 2005 08:39
Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale
About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.
Changes: Support for Code 93 and Code 11 was added. A checksum was added
to Code 39 and Interleaved 2 of 5. Incorrect generation of X human
readable check-digit for ISBN was fixed.

by Rob (http://freshmeat.net/users/painlessrob/)
Wed, Jan 5th 2005 14:13
Office/Business :: Scheduling
Utilities
About: clcal provides a terminal-based on-screen reminder of appointments,
important dates, and other events over a pre-defined range of days.
Changes: The ability to print previous entries has been extended (e.g
clcal -d 7 -w -9 will print calendar entries for nine weeks prior to
today, then today's entries, then the entries for the next seven days.
clcal -w -9 -w will achieve the same output.) Note that the negative
period modifier must be specified (the positive period modifier is 1 by
implication unless specified), so that in order to show calendar entries
for one week prior to and one week after today, you could use: clcal -w -w
-1. A couple of bugs where clcal would core dump instead of displaying the
customary brief usage message were fixed.

About: Smieciuch++ is a tiny and portable precise garbage collection

Precise collection means that the library knows what is a pointer and does
not need to guess (as typical GC solution does).
Changes: This release adds a lot of new features, the most important being
smart pointers to constant data and weak pointers. Besides that, there are
bugfixes and other changes like support for std::less over Smieciuch's
smart pointers, allowing to use them as ordering values in standard C++

Wed, Jan 5th 2005 04:10
System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
Utilities
About: System Configuration Collector (SCC) is yet another configuration
collector. It consists of a client and a server part. The client collects
configuration data in a structured snapshot, compares the new snapshot
with the previous one, and adds differences to a logbook. Then the
snapshot and the logbook are converted to HTML for local inspection.
Optionally, the data can be sent to a system running the server software.
On the server, summaries of the data are generated, and search/compare
operations on the snapshots and logbooks are available via a Web
interface.
Changes: This release is now available in the native install formats for
FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD. It has also been tested on TRU64. The scope
of the collection has been extended. The production of the depots, RPMs,
and packages is part of the source tarball. This means that the software
can be better customized to local needs.

Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
Software Development :: Widget Sets
About: xulRecordset is a project to create XUL widget library with a
recordset behaviour, like ADORecordset in Visual Basic. It uses PHP
server-side and derived XUL widgets (using XBL) and Javascript
client-side. Communication between the client and server is supported by
the JPSpan library. An agenda is provided as an example to show how it
works. You can move next, move previous, move first, move last, update,
remove, add records, etc. The example runs against a MySQL database.
Changes: This release adds the widgets xrsHiddenField and tree, and the
utilConnectSelected function. xulRecordset can be associated to other
xulRecordsets. Events have been added to the xulRecordset widget. A
complex example has been added. xrs_server.php is now able to have more
than one server.
