[001] - Access_user Class  1.62
  by olaf (http://freshmeat.net/users/olaf2/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 12:10

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Access_user Class is an easy to use system for protecting pages and
registering users. The main features are user login, user registration,
page protection, forgotten password recovery, and email-based account
activation. The class is powered by MySQL and PHP sessions. Inside the
package are examples for all primary methods.

Changes: If a user places the class in the root, a bad link was produced
while sending email (forgot password, register user). After the
improvements in version 1.61, the md5 encoding for the current password
was not removed. After an update, the password was encoded the second
time. Both bugs are corrected now.

[002] - AnotherScrapBook A.04.01.00
  by ewl (http://freshmeat.net/users/ewl/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 05:44

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation

About: AnotherScrapBook is a static Website generator. It can currently
handle (almost) all kinds of pictures, as well as MJPEG films as
typically generated by a digital camera.

Changes: No new features were added, but the program was split up into
smaller, more modular pieces. A small but with the newest MPlayer was
fixed (since the -jpeg option is obsolete).

[003] - Ascii2Binary 2.2
  by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 12:08

Utilities

About: The Ascii2Binary project consists of two complementary programs
that convert between textual and binary representations of numbers.
Ascii2Binary reads input consisting of textual representations of numbers
separated by whitespace and produces as output the binary equivalents. It
is useful for generating test data and linking programs that generate
textual output to programs that require binary input. Binary2Ascii
converts binary numbers to text. In both programs, the type and
size/precision of the input or output is selected using command line
flags.

Changes: This release adds the ability to specify base symbolically as
well as numerically to ascii2binary, and the ability to specify base
numerically as well as symbolically to binary2ascii. It adds warnings for
incompatible options to binary2ascii. binary2ascii now defaults to
prefixing '0x' to hexadecimal output. The -x flag now turns this off.

  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 05:05

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)

About: Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP
server. It is designed to provide DNS and (optionally) DHCP to a small
network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the
global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows
machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names
configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq
supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP for network booting of
diskless machines.

Changes: This release fixes some fairly obscure bugs. It also fixes
compilation on Mac OS X. There are a few additional, fairly
minority-interest, features and configuration options, notably support
for the SRV DNS record type.

support reading, writing, and manipulating an image in over 88 major
formats including popular formats like TIFF, JPEG, JPEG-2000,PNG, PDF,
PhotoCD, SVG, and GIF. A high-quality 2D renderer is included, which
provides a subset of SVG capabilities. C, C++, Perl, Java, PHP, Python,
ColdFusion, and Ruby are supported. Originally based on ImageMagick,
GraphicsMagick focuses on performance, minimizing bugs, and providing
stable APIs and ABIs. It runs on all modern variants of Unix, Windows,
VMS, and MacOS 9.

Changes: Security vulnerabilities have been eliminated for BMP, DIB, and
PSD formats. The definition of the -modulate hue option has been altered
so that it is useful and doesn't corrupt the image. TIFF writer has been
fixed for 16-bit TrueColor images on little-endian CPUs. Reading TIFF
images containing multiple strips has been fixed. Gmdisplay automatically
converts the colorspace to RGB so that images look right. This release
handles reading JPEG-2000 images in the YCBCR colorspace and retrieves any
embedded ICC color profile. The TGA writer now writes grayscale output when

[025] - JAVA LZMA SDK 4.12b
  by myspace54 (http://freshmeat.net/users/myspace54/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 07:56

System :: Archiving :: Compression

About: JAVA LZMA SDK provides developers with documentation, source code,
and sample code necessary to write software that uses LZMA compression.
LZMA is the default and general compression method of the 7z format in the
7-Zip compression program. LZMA provides a high compression ratio and very
fast decompression. LZMA is an improved version of the famous LZ77
compression algorithm. It was improved by increasing the maximum
compression ratio, keeping high decompression speed, and low memory
requirements for decompressing.

[029] - Kernel Socks Bouncer 2.6.10
  by Paolo Ardoino (http://freshmeat.net/users/binduck/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 05:06

About: ksb26 (Kernel Socks Bouncer for 2.6.x) is a patch for the Linux
2.6.x kernel that redirects full TCP connections through a socks5 proxy.
ksb26 uses a character device to pass socks5 and the target IP addresses
to the Linux kernel. This is obviously quite useful if you want to
transparently tunnel certain things through a given proxy to remain
anonymous, or if you want to be able to sniff certain network traffic
transparently.

Changes: This release fixes a bug that disallowed redirections of browser
connections. It now handles all TCP connections.

Software Development :: Libraries

About: Simple Sound for Small Devices (libsssd) is a simple
cross-platform audio library designed primarily for games on portable
devices such as smart phones, PDAs, and hand-helds.

Changes: The way that WinCE/Win32 handles buffers was rewritten, so it
works much faster and better under WinCE. A new WinCE test app was added,
and has been tested under PocketPC 2003 and Smartphone 2003 (EVC4). The
corrected Intent VP qcall prototypes were merged in template.asx. The
documentation was updated.

[060] - Sky Chart 3.0.0.7
  by Patrick Chevalley (http://freshmeat.net/users/pchev/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 19:58

Scientific/Engineering :: Astronomy

About: SkyChart is software to draw a map of the night sky for the
amateur astronomer from a bunch of stars and nebulae catalogs. It shows
the position of the planets, simulates an eclipse, and shows artificial
satellites. It can also drive the telescope.

Changes: Drawing of the star is now improved using a new parametric
method. A picture database allows you to display any number of FITS images
to the chart. It is possible to replace every object symbol with its real
image; a package with 9894 images for the SAC database is available. Other
improvements include Double Star display and Milky Way color selection.

System :: Operating System
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based

About: Franki and Earlgrey Linux are small but usable Linux distributions
designed to demonstrate the full extent of STUBS, the Toolchain and
Utility Build Suite. STUBS is a set of configuration files and scripts
designed to build (and optionally employ) toolchains from just a list of
desired packages, and has scripts capable of downloading sources as
necessary beforehand. It is designed to both bootstrap and work within the
Franki Linux environment, requiring just kernel headers and working
make/gcc/binutils to do so.

Changes: This release incorporates changes to the 'build' script to
correctly interpret certain new download URLs (mostly in the development
stream) and extract the corresponding files.

[067] - wyoFiler 0.7.2
  by Otto Wyss (http://freshmeat.net/users/wyo/)
  Sun, Jan 23rd 2005 05:09

Desktop Environment
Desktop Environment :: File Managers

About: wyoFiler is a cross-platform program that shows all subdirectories
and files in one tree window. Directories and files can be selected and
manipulated across the whole hierarchy, from the base directory all the
way down to the lowest level. Selected items may be in different
directories on different levels. All file manipulations are done in the
background, so multiple commands are possible simultaneously. The filer
can display multiple base directories in tabbed notebook pages or separate
top level windows. It conforms to the wxGuide guidelines and uses the
wxWidgets framework.

Changes: wxConfig in wxWidgets 2.4.2 has a bug which prevents compilation
out of the box. This release adds the necessary workaround.
