Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: Liquid Bytes Adaptive Website Framework (AWF) is a content
management system. Most of its code is object-oriented and very easy to
extend. It features version and link management, support for multiple
Websites and fully flexible URLs so that it's possible to replace existing
static Websites with this CMS.
Changes: Some unnecessary files and directories were removed. The archive
was created using a new release script.

[003] - AudienceConnect 0.1.0 (THR33)

Thu, Feb 3rd 2005 11:52
Communications :: Chat
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Message Boards
About: AudienceConnect is a revenue-generating Python CGI solution for
independent content providers. Requests for dynamic content are routed
through PayPal. Previews of that content are generated as static HTML for
search engines to harvest. Self-publishers can upload and publish
remotely, or the editorial CGI can be used to view and publish
submissions.
Changes: THR33 generates Web pages statically or dynamically (currently
static only.) As a local executable, it generates a static site from a
directory tree of simple text files. Installed in cgi-bin, it creates
those same pages on demand, in response to browser requests. Parsing of
different source types and the writing of pages are separated, making it
easy to extend THR33 to new data types or delivery methods. It will be the
basis of AudienceConnect going forward.

Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale
About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.
Changes: A user option to override the default barcode height was added.

by John Ogness (http://freshmeat.net/users/jogness/)
Thu, Feb 3rd 2005 02:44
Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Operating System Kernels
About: Dazuko provides a device driver allowing 3rd-party (userland)
applications to execute file access control. It was originally developed
by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH to allow on-access virus scanning. Other uses
include a file-access monitor/logger or external security implementations.
It operates by intercepting file access calls and passing the file
information to a 3rd-party application. The 3rd-party application then has
the opportunity to tell the device driver to allow or deny the file access.
The 3rd-party application also receives information about the access event,
such as accessed file, type of access, process id, and user id.
Changes: The kernel configuration detection tool was improved and now
successfully detects the many Linux 2.6 LSM API variations in the
different GNU/Linux distributions. Support was added for Linux 2.6
udev/sysfs. File access detection was improved for Linux 2.2/2.4 (more
events are generated). Minor compiler problems were fixed and some code
cleanups were performed.

About: DB Solo is a powerful database development and management tool for
developers and DBAs. It has an intuitive user interface that allows you
to explore and manage your database objects as well as execute ad-hoc
queries. It supports Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, and MS SQL Server. In addition
to viewing objects such as schemas, tables, indexes, views, tablespaces,
users, roles, sessions, and stored procedures, you can view, edit, print,
and export data from tables or the results of queries. You can also
graphically view foreign key relationships.
Changes: An index creator has been added, which allows you to create
indexes with a couple of mouse clicks without knowing the exact SQL
syntax. Several DBA features have also been added, such as the capability
to create/drop Synonyms, Sequences, Tablespaces, Redo Log Groups, User
Defined Data Types, Rules, Defaults, and Filegroups. Selecting multiple
cells in the result windows now shows statistics on the selected cells,
such as MIN, MAX, and AVG for numeric cells.

Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Wiki
About: GeboGebo is a wiki system written for tdbengine. It stores all data
in a local database structure and thus provides an indexed fulltext search.
It uses a simple syntax, and has user lists, pages history, a missing pages
list, and a recent changes list. Image and file upload are possible, but
can be disabled. This allows it to work as a small document management
system. A blacklist allows you to lock existing pages from being edited or
new pages from being created. It can also be run in static mode, where all
pages are additionally held as static HTML pages.
Changes: Partial editing of pages is one of the big new features in this
release: GeboGebo now divides a page into several parts, using the
headlines in it. Users can now subscribe to certain pages or all pages and
get a notification via email as soon as those pages are changed by other
users. The list of activities in the wiki now can be filtered by users, so
one gets a quick overview of what a user changed recently. Several system
forms are reachable via a gebo:-link now. This allows better modification
of the framework since the buttons used by default are not mandatory
anymore.

position or by tag. For each key an arbitrary sort order may be specified.
The sort order may contain multigraphs. In addition to the usual
lexicographic and numerical orderings, msort supports sorting by date,
time, and string length. Any or all keys may be optional. For optional
keys, the user may specify how records missing the key field should

[064] - pacKAGE oRGANIZER 1.8.0
by David Rosal (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidrr/)
Thu, Feb 3rd 2005 14:19
System :: Systems Administration
About: Paco (pacKAGE oRGANIZER) is a simple, yet powerful tool to aid
package management when installing programs from source code. It uses the
LD_PRELOAD method to keep track of package installations, and provides
several options to keep the installed software organized. It's mainly a
command line application but it has also an optional GTK interface.
Changes: The GUI has been improved, adding support for app. icons and
fixing some minor bugs. The sizes of the missing files are kept in the
logs, and they can be retrieved with the new option "-n". Due to these new
features, the paco logs syntax has changed, and there is no backward
compatibility with paco-1.7 or older. A script called "upgrade" is
provided with the tarball to convert the old paco database to the 1.8
syntax.

by Kyoshiro (http://freshmeat.net/users/mibukyoshiro/)
Thu, Feb 3rd 2005 11:07

About: System log Colorizer prints out some useful information by
filtering and colorizing syslog files. It allows you to read a file, a
FIFO, or from stdin, and print out only interesting data. The script
colorizes each part of a log line (date, host, process, PID, and message),
allows processes to have different colors, and can highlight words in a
specific color. It can also use a Perl regex for syntax colorization for
variable parts of messages. It filters messages (globally or by host) on

About: TabLaunch is a simple and lightweight but cool-looking X
application launch bar based on YeahLaunch. It displays a user-specified
list of applications as tabs along the top of the screen. The user can
specify an x coordinate offset to position the launch bar or right-align
it. The launch bar becomes hidden after a specified delay. Each tab can be
displayed as text or an icon. Tabs are "enlarged" or zoomed-in when the
mouse is over a tab. Imlib or Imlib2 can be used to show and enlarge
icons.
Changes: This version fixes the slight icon shift that occurred when
moving the launchbar, and removes icon shrinking that occurred when a
button was pressed due to mouse click problems. Automatic searching for

[090] - uClinux 2.4.29-uc0 (2.4.x)
by David McCullough (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidmc/)
Thu, Feb 3rd 2005 01:03
About: uClinux is a set of patches for Linux that supports MMUless
processors. It brings a full featured operating system onto platforms that
would otherwise run less advanced, simpler operating systems. uClinux gives
the programmer a Linux API with remarkably few concessions to the lack of
MMU (Memory Management Unit), and in terms of code size and efficiency it
has an advantage over standard Linux.
Changes: This release included a large number of updates due to a sync up
with the SnapGear Linux kernel. Most notably, this resulted in FASS
support, more targets, and 2.4.29 updates to serial drivers. The
m68knommu, armnommu, ARM, and SH platforms are working but IPv6 support is

Software Development :: Interpreters
System
Utilities
About: Zsh is a UNIX command interpreter (shell) which of the standard
shells most resembles the Korn shell (ksh). It includes enhancements of
many types, notably in the command-line editor, options for customising
its behaviour, filename globbing, features to make C-shell (csh) users
feel more at home and extra features drawn from tcsh.
Changes: This version fixed a few high-priority problems. In particular,
configuration was fixed for recent versions of Cygwin, and a problem where
the -nt and -ot test operators could cause an initialization script or a
function to abort was fixed.
