[001] - 4tH compiler 3.4e-pre12 (Development)
by HanSoft (http://freshmeat.net/users/hansoft/)
Mon, Mar 7th 2005 04:44
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: 4tH is a Forth compiler with a little difference. Instead of the
standard Forth engine it features a conventional compiler. 4tH is a very
small compiler that can create bytecode, C-embeddable bytecode, standalone
executables, but also works fine as a scripting language. It supports over
85% of the ANS Forth CORE wordset and features conditional compilation,
pipes, files, assertions, forward declarations, recursion, include files,
etc. It comes with an RPN calculator, line editor, compiler, decompiler,
C-source generators, and a virtual machine.
Changes: A bug was fixed that prevented compilation by gcc 3.x. Multiple
WHILEs in BEGIN .. REPEAT and BEGIN .. UNTIL constructs are now
supported. A limited DOES> construct was introduced with the :WITH
keyword. A program that generates Graphviz flow diagrams of 4tH programs
was added. Libraries for drawing ASCII banners and scanning textfiles
were added.

[011] - bibEC Process Card 1.2.4
by Fabrizio Parrella (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnfnva/)
Mon, Mar 7th 2005 23:10
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: bibEC Process Card is a class that processes credit card payments
via one of the multiple supported payment gateways. Currently, these
include Plug and Pay, Authorize.net, and ViaKlix. Changing between payment
gateways is mostly a matter of changing the class constructor parameter. It
provides a payment gateway independent API with functions for logging the
payment activity, setting authentication credentials, submitting
requests, and retrieving the results. Submissions are performed securely
when possible using SSL or Curl.
Changes: Some parameters were added, such as user IP, phone, fax, crt
certificate, and some extra default parameters for authorize.net. Some
curl errors were fixed. A better error report was added. If a value is set
to NULL, that parameter will not be passed to the gateway.

About: binfind searches files for a byte sequence. The pattern can be
given on the command line in ASCII or hex, read from a file, or a
combination of the above. binfind uses the Boyer-Moore algorithm and is
able to search large files without using a lot of memory. For each
occurrence of the pattern, binfind prints a line containing the offset of
the occurrence in the searched file. If more than one file was specified,
binfind prints the filename and a colon before the offset.

About: Elist implements a cyclic C++ list for non-copyable objects with an
interface similar to std::list. The list nodes are embeddable and don't
need a common base class, so any object may be stored inside multiple
lists. Furthermore, objects are automatically removed from their lists on
destruction. No iterator is required to unlink an element from its

by Sebastiano Vigna (http://freshmeat.net/users/vigna/)
Mon, Mar 7th 2005 04:43
Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: ERW (Entities and Relationships on the Web) is an innovative system
for handling complex databases using a Web browser. It uses the most recent
standards endorsed by the W3C to offer to the user a sophisticated
environment, similar to a dedicated client. Moreover, the user interface
is generated in a completely automatic way starting from a conceptual
description of the database by means of an XML-based description language
for entity-relationship schemata. From the same description, you can also
automatically obtain diagrams and documentation. ERW can be used for
content management, in particular when the data is structured along
complex relations.
Changes: This release adds support for HTMLArea, FCKeditor, and
JScalendar. ERW text areas can now be edited WYSIWYG. Moreover, date
fields may sport a JScalendar popup.

About: The MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable
modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. Using LAME, it dynamically
downsamples a requested MP3 to a bitrate which can be streamed. It doesn't

[060] - MVCnPHP 2.0.1
by Tony Bibbs (http://freshmeat.net/users/tbibbs/)
Mon, Mar 7th 2005 22:09
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: MVCnPHP stands for Model-View-Controller in PHP. It is an
implementation of the MVC design pattern for use in PHP applications.
Geared for large-scale, enterprise-level PHP applications, it helps make
your large PHP application easier to maintain and your logic more atomic,
making it ideal for reuse. It also features an object-relational mapping
tool (Persistence Manager) that can map MVC models to corresponding
structures in your database. To get you started, a couple of example
applications are part of the package.
Changes: This release has two major improvements. First, the XML parsing
has been completely gutted to use the XML DOM and xPath. Doing so allows
XMLParser.php to be eliminated completely. Secondly, those who use the XML
file format for configuration will be able to force the file to be

by Bill (http://freshmeat.net/users/bsimonssays/)
Mon, Mar 7th 2005 16:15
Scientific/Engineering :: Medical Science Apps.
About: PING is a distributed, Web-based, personally controlled electronic
medical record system that is ubiquitously accessible to the nomadic user
and built to public standards. It is essentially an inversion of the
current approach to medical records, in that the record resides with the
patients, who grant permissions to the institutions, clinicians,
researchers, and other users of the medical information. It includes
various tools and APIs that address the technical aspects of personally
controlled health records. Some of these include a Servlet-based,
pluggable, Web services server, a Java Swing-based application for viewing
and manipulating records, and an application for generating bar codes used
to fax documents into a record.

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
About: UDPCast allows to send data simultaneously to many destinations on
a local net. This can for instance be used to install entire classrooms of
PCs at once. The advantage over using other methods (nfs, ftp, whatever) is
that udpcast uses Ethernet's multicast abilities: it won't take longer to
install 15 machines than it would to install 2. The tool comes with a
busybox bootdisk for easy loading of the tool. However, udpcast can also
be started from the command line of an already installed system, and can
be used for other purposes than just system installation.
Changes: A Luxembourgish translation has been added. Softpat jokes have
been removed from the Danish translation and put into the Luxembourgish
