About: cpudyn controls the speed in Intel SpeedStep, Pentium 4 Mobile, and
PowerPC machines with the cpufreq driver compiled in the kernel. It saves
battery, lowers temperature, and can put the computer disks in standby
mode if a given period has passed without any I/O operation. It works well
even with journaled file systems such as Ext3, XFS, or ReiserFS.

Changes: The frequencies table is now sorted to avoid bugs in some BIOS
implementations when -minf is used. The program now checks for
/proc/acpi/processor/CPU/ directories.

About: DirectX support for Wine is a set of patches against Wine to
implement DirectX 9. It allows modern games and 3D applications to run
under Wine. The patches include many experimental and beta features that
have not yet made it into the stable Wine source tree. The aim of the
project is to provide full support for DirectX 8 and 9 so that all games
and 3D applications will run on Linux or any other platform that Wine
supports.

Changes: This version includes support for the majority of the DirectX 9
feature set, so a lot of games and demos now are now in a playable state
(but with a few missing textures). Missing features include shaders and
proper offscreen textures.

it look much nicer. Keymaps can be cycled with the mouse buttons or

About: GNU Libidn is an implementation of the Stringprep, Punycode, and
IDNA specifications defined by the IETF Internationalized Domain Names
(IDN) working group. It is used to prepare internationalized strings (such
as domain name labels, usernames, and passwords) in order to increase the
likelihood that string input and string comparison work in ways that make
sense for typical users throughout the world. The library contains a
generic Stringprep implementation that does Unicode 3.2 NFKC
normalization, mapping and prohibition of characters, and bidirectional
character handling. Profiles for iSCSI, Kerberos 5, Nameprep, SASL, and
XMPP are included. Punycode and ASCII Compatible Encoding (ACE) via IDNA
are supported.

Changes: The cleanup of code to convert data between character sets was
finished, which may fix some (believed non-critical) memory leaks and an
arithmetic overflow.

About: Grand is a set of tools to create a visual representation of Ant

rather than XML parsing to get the dependencies. It includes many
advanced features such as filtering or rendering depending on the target's
nature. It also features a GUI based on SWT, Draw2D, and JzGraph.

About: Peeranha42 is an all-in-one software solution for P2P networks. The
software consists of two components, the P42 Client and the P42 Development
Kit. The client is the core of the software package and has a special
pluggable architecture. Furthermore, it builds up the interface between
the P2P network of JXTA and plugins using P2P networks. Due to the fact
that developing a P2P application is generally much harder and time
expensive than developing a simple client-server application, the client
offers an abstract network layer for easy development of P2P applications
in the form of P42 Plugins in minimum time. Some plugins are available for
download.

Changes: Bugfixes for 0.7. send() and receive() use BiDiPipes internally,
thus plugins can communicate with each other; one with BiDiPipes and the
other with send() and receive().

[033] - POT 1.1
  by Dino (http://freshmeat.net/users/dinojedi/)
  Sat, Mar 19th 2005 14:10

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: The goal of Pot (PHP Object Template) is to totally divide the
logic of a Web site from the design. Pot can be used by "common" people
just by writing some XML tags in the HTML code. It supports technologies
like Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, animated objects, and form data
checking. Using your favourite WYSIWYG editor (like Dreamweaver or
GoLive), you can create HTML pages where you place a tag wherever you need
and write the required Pot parameter and value tags. There are 41 objects
ready to be used.

Changes: An entire portal can now be created without writing a single line
of PHP code, just by using HTML/XML templates. ADODB support was added, so
now any database can be used. Variables and conditional objects were
enhanced. Minor bugfixes were made for all objects.

[035] - Report Writer 0.03
  by Kaare Rasmussen (http://freshmeat.net/users/Kaare/)
  Sat, Mar 19th 2005 11:49

Database
Information Management
Office/Business

About: Report Writer produces nice-looking PostScript reports that are
defined in an XML file and based on data that are extracted from a
database. The extraction is performed with DBIx::Recordset, so the syntax
is the same as the syntax used by that package. A sample XML file is
included. This file (trialbal.xml) is a report for Trial Balance from the
FreeMoney project. The XML file contains sections for database, extraction
criteria (the "search" section), page header, breaks (which is where Report
Writer will make a nice total for you), and fields.

Changes: This version has been modularized. PDF and OOCalc are now both
supported. It can be used for reports or business documents such as
invoices.

[039] - Terminal Emulator 0.2.4
  by bmeurer (http://freshmeat.net/users/bmeurer/)
  Sat, Mar 19th 2005 15:46

Desktop Environment :: Window Managers :: XFCE
Terminals :: Terminal Emulators/X Terminals

About: Terminal is a modern terminal emulator for the Unix/Linux desktop,
primarly for the Xfce desktop environment. It was developed because Xfce
needed a lightweight and easy-to-use terminal emulator that didn't require
the user to install the GNOME libraries, but still provided a worthy
alternative to the GNOME terminal emulator, with all the bells and
whistles.

Changes: You can now open URLs from the terminal window. Two new advanced
options have been added (MiscCycleTabs and MiscTabCloseButtons). The
shortcuts to jump to a specific terminal tab work properly now, even if
the menubar is hidden. The configuration file is watched for changes and
will be reloaded automatically. Both D-BUS 0.23 and D-BUS 0.3x are
supported now. New translations (fi, he, ja, ru, and zh_CN) are available.
