[001] - /etc/net Scripts 0.7.1
by Pilot (http://freshmeat.net/users/infrastation/)
Fri, Mar 25th 2005 03:05
System :: Boot :: Init
System :: Networking
System :: Systems Administration
About: /etc/net represents a new approach to Linux network configuration
tasks. Inspired by the limitations of traditional configuration
subsystems, /etc/net provides builtin support for configuration profiles,
interface name management, removable device support, full iproute2 command
set support, interface dependency resolution, and a QoS configuration
framework. /etc/net provides support for the following interface types:
Ethernet, WiFi (WEP), IPv6/IPv6 tunnels, PSK IPSec tunnels, VLAN, PLIP,
Ethernet bonding and bridging, traffic equalizer, Pent@NET, usbnet, and
PPP. Due to its modular design, support for new interface types can be
added without overall design changes.
Changes: This release features a minor bugfix for network.init, a flushed
PPP address bugfix, an iplink file processing bugfix, and an updated
childfinder script for the new HOST variable.

[002] - anymeal 0.11
by wedesoft (http://freshmeat.net/users/wedesoft/)
Fri, Mar 25th 2005 02:53
Database :: Front-Ends
About: anymeal is a cookbook database front-end. It can handle more than
100,000 recipes, and can search recipes for a given set of ingredients. It
is designed to be lean and flexible.
Changes: This release uses YY_USER_ACTION to keep track of the read
position, uses the revised and faster mealmaster compiler, and fixes the
XSL script generating docbook. It improves the progress-dialog for
importing, fixes the ordering of sections, updates the credits and
authors. It uses KDE instead of popt for parsing command-line, and
po-files instead of ts-files for translation. Most of the todos were
moved into doxygen documentation. Functionality for selecting recipes was
started.

by William Park (http://freshmeat.net/users/opengeometry/)
Fri, Mar 25th 2005 14:20
Database :: Front-Ends
System :: Shells
About: Bash.Diff is a patch against Bash that incorporates many useful
features from Awk, Python, Zsh, Ksh, and others. In the main core, it adds
the following: new brace expansion {a..b}, new parameter expansion
${var|...}, new command substitution $(=...), extended for, while, and
until loops, extended case statement, new try-block with integer
exception, and new here document <<+. As builtin commands, it adds the
following: sscanf(3), <string.h>, and <ctype.h> wrappers, a variety of
array and regex(3) operations, GDBM, SQLite, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
database interfaces, an HTML template engine (BASP), stack/queue
operations on positional parameters and arrays, Expat XML parser
interface, simple x-y character plot, DOS line support, and simple Awk
emulation.
Changes: '${var|-}' has been added to parameter expansion. 'arraycat' now
appends to array variables without flushing the existing elements. DESTDIR
has been added to the Makefile to aid package management.

[006] - DBMAIL 2.0.4
by Aaron Stone (http://freshmeat.net/users/SodaBrew/)
Fri, Mar 25th 2005 10:41
Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
About: The DBMAIL package replaces the normal UNIX mailing system. All
email and user data is stored in a database. You can create an unlimited
number of email accounts, which can be checked using the POP3 or IMAP
protocol. Users can maintain their own set of email addresses. It is more
scalable, more secure, and faster than traditional mail systems. DBMAIL
has storage drivers for PostgreSQL and MySQL, and it has authentication
drivers for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and LDAP.
Changes: Address verification no longer skips the aliases table for sites
that use email-as-username naming. Messages to users who are over quota
are bounced with a quota error rather than held in the queue. IMAP search
is now much faster. Various bugs in the dbmail-users and dbmail-util
utilities were fixed. Many queries now have improved performance on
PostgreSQL, and are compatible with PostgreSQL 8. Builds without errors on
FreeBSD.

beginner language, interactive and graphical static analysis, a graphical
user interface (GUI) library, objects, threads, modules, exceptions,
TCP/IP, regular expressions, and filesystem support.
Changes: This release offers Unicode characters and strings, access to
foreign functions and libraries from Scheme, continuations are portable
among threads, macro improvements, an improved class system, an improved
and revised contract library, anti-aliased drawing, improved GUI and OS X
performance, tabbed editing in DrScheme, and PLaneT enhancements. The v300

highly repetitive. Repeated commands can be selected from a list,
ordered by last usage time. It includes an integrated file browser that
helps you insert filenames without typing them. and allows you to see

[042] - Peeranha42 0.7 (P42 file sharing plugin)
by eecid (http://freshmeat.net/users/eecid/)
Fri, Mar 25th 2005 14:13
About: Peeranha42 is an all-in-one software solution for P2P networks. The
software consists of two components, the P42 Client and the P42 Development
Kit. The client is the core of the software package and has a special
pluggable architecture. Furthermore, it builds up the interface between
the P2P network of JXTA and plugins using P2P networks. Due to the fact
that developing a P2P application is generally much harder and time
expensive than developing a simple client-server application, the client
offers an abstract network layer for easy development of P2P applications
in the form of P42 Plugins in minimum time. Some plugins are available for
download.
Changes: This release uses the network interface of p42 version 0.7.1, has
a higher transfer rate, downloaded files in the share list, a cancel
function for data transfers, a clear-all button for the share list, and
better usability. It only works with Peeranha42 0.7.1.

About: The SvxLink project aims to develop a flexible general purpose
voice services system for ham radio use. The server consists of a core
that handles the connection to the tranceiver. The transceiver audio is
connected to the PC through the sound card, and the PTT is controlled by a
pin in the serial port. The core can act as a repeater controller or
operate on a simplex channel. The voice services are loaded into the core
as modules. Examples of existing voice services are a help system, a
module that plays back everything you say, and a module to connect to
other EchoLink stations. The project also includes an EchoLink client GUI
application (Qtel).
Changes: The repeater controller logic has been tested for more than a

Communications
Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
About: Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups
to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables
software developers to create new communication tools with built-in
privacy features. It provides the foundation for a range of applications
that allow organizations and individuals to share information over
public networks without compromising their privacy. Individuals can use
it to keep remote Websites from tracking them and their family members.
They can also use it to connect to resources such as news sites or
instant messaging services that are blocked by their local Internet
service providers (ISPs).
Changes: This version fixes more stability problems with servers.

Office/Business
About: Tux ToDo is a simple to-do list manager, inspired by the built-in
to-do list manager for Palm systems.
Changes: The database was changed to support 32K note fields, as 256
characters was not enough. A conversion program was created for moving
from the old format to the new format. Shortcuts on the Todo Edit screen
were fixed. Extensive testing was performed.

[067] - Yam 0.7.3
by dag (http://freshmeat.net/users/dag/)

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
About: Yam builds a local APT/Yum RPM repository from local ISO files,
downloaded updates, and extra packages from 3rd party repositories. It
takes care of setting up the ISO files, downloading the RPMs, configuring
HTTP access, and providing PXE/TFTP resources for remote installations. It
was primarily intended for doing remote network installations of various
distributions from a laptop without the need for CD media or floppies, but
is equally suitable for an organization's centralized update server.
Changes: This release adds IA64 support. The standard and error output is
now separated. There is an lftp include/exclude fix, as well as a fix for
ISO selection. There is also preliminary SELinux support.
