[001] - abcm2ps 4.9.7 (Development)
  by Guido Gonzato (http://freshmeat.net/users/goccia/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 00:03

Printing

About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.

Changes: This release introduces the ability to not print empty staves and
other minor enhancements.

  by mean99 (http://freshmeat.net/users/mean99/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 10:58

Multimedia :: Video :: Non-Linear Editor

About: Avidemux is a graphical tool to edit video. It can open AVI,
openDML, MPEG, Nuppelvideo, and BMPs. Most common codecs are supported
(M-JPEG, MPEG, DivX, Xvid, huffyuv, WMA, etc.) thanks to libavcodec and
libmpeg2. Video can be edited, cut, appended, filtered
(resize/crop/denoise), and re-encoded to either AVI (DivX/Xvid) or MPEG
1/2.

Changes: The aim of this release is to enhance compatibility with gcc4.
Additionnaly, most of the MMX code has been tweaked to work full speed on
AMD-64 (for AMD-64+gcc4, you need CVS). As a bonus, there are a couple of
new filters.

  Thu, May 5th 2005 04:47

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet
Security

About: BitDefender AntiVirus for Samba protects Samba servers running
under Linux from viruses and other malware. It's configured for
"On-Access" scanning of the files that are copied to or are accessed from
the Samba file server's shared partitions. BitDefender claims 100%
detection rate for all viruses in the wild (ITW) through its powerful
scanning engines certified by Virus Bulettin in April 2005.

Changes: New Drop and Reject actions actions were implemented to
completely delete or deny access to virused files along with new fallback
actions. The BitDefender Watchdog monitors the scanning processes for
accidental crashes or malformed requests restarting. A Bdsafe patch
management tool was included to offer automatic or scheduled product
upgrades. It can be installed along BitDefender for Linux Mail Servers to
offer both mail and file server protection against malware. The plugins
for the HIVE technology are now included to detect new unknown viruses.

[011] - dupmerge 1.5
  by nobody0 (http://freshmeat.net/users/nobody0/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 05:32

System :: Filesystems
System :: Systems Administration
Utilities

About: Dupmerge reads a list of files from standard input (eg., as
produced by "find . -print") and looks for identical files. When it finds
two or more identical files, all but one are unlinked to reclaim the disk
space and recreated as hard links to the remaining copy.

Changes: Because the old versions of dupmerge use fgets to read the
filenames, filenames which contain newline characters could not be read.
Therefore, fgets has been replaced with fread and the old sequence
operator "\n" was replaced with "\0"; the input file names must now be
separated with a zero byte instead of a newline. So the -print0 option
must be given to find instead of -print, when piping the output of find
into dupmerge. A small bug in which the wrong version number was shown has
been fixed.

  by Heinz Knutzen (http://freshmeat.net/users/heinzknutzen/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 20:05

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: The Network Security Policy Compiler (NetSPoC) is a tool for
security management of large computer networks with different security
domains. It generates configuration files for packet filters controlling
the borders of security domains. It provides its own language for
describing security policy and the topology of a network. The security
policy is a set of rules that state which packets are allowed to pass the
network and which are not. NetSPoC is topology aware; a rule for traffic
from A to B is automatically applied to all managed packet filters on the
path from A to B.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in local optimization, where some deny
rules could inadvertently be marked as redundant, leading to missing ACLs
for these rules in generated code. A second bug with automatically
generated rules at stateless packet filters has also been fixed. For TCP,
reverse deny rules no longer generated.

[042] - splitpipe 0.4
  by ahu (http://freshmeat.net/users/ahu2/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 10:54

System :: Archiving

About: Splitpipe accepts the streamed output of a program such as tar on
standard input and distributes it over multiple output volumes. These
volumes contain labels that guarantee integrity, verify that the entire
volume is read, and that they are read in the proper order. Combined with
the built-in ring buffer, this allows for the high speed backup of full
filesystems to DVD or CD.

Changes: This release mostly improves the user interface by showing the
speed at which data is being read and written, as well as providing a
volume change ETA. Joinpipe gained --inspect, which allows the operator to
query a volume without actually restoring it. Building the documentation
and regression tests should now work out of the box on platforms where
gmake is used.

[048] - WANPIPE beta7-2.3.3 (Beta)
  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Thu, May 5th 2005 22:48

Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System

About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.

Changes: This release features an AFT A104 TDMV Channelized Driver for
Asterisk. The A104 TDMV Driver uses the channelization feature of the
A104 Card, to DMA 8byte chunks directly into Zaptel buffers. There is
also an AFT A104/A101/A102 TDMV DCHAN feature: the DCHAN PRI has hardware
HDLC support.
