Neither > mplayer nor xine were able to access the DVD drive. Does this happen with other DVDs (or even CDs) too ? Can you mount the DVD like a normal CD ? Does /var/log/messages give an error indication ? I remember having problems with some of the DVD libraries on 1 single DVD that played well on another system. After cleaning it, it worked.
