Yes, there is even an entry in bugs.gentoo.org, see
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5265

It seems that the current maintainer of the autofs e-package doesn't
have much experience with automount and is searching for a new
maintainter - but no-one is stepping forward :(
