KDE problem - libGL.so.1

After recently emerging KDE, I can startx fine, however when I run kdm it fails.  Log reports that it can not find libGL.so.1

I checked and there is a link in /usr/X11R6/lib:
libGL.so.1 ->  /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2

The libGL.so.1.2 doesn't seem to exist.  Did I miss a dependency?  Anyone got any ideas?
