it suits me well, for sure! Again, refer to my
previous post. Cost for extended digital camera
warranty? $59.95

Camera died (err, fell into a river)

Cost for new Kodak DX6340 and accessories? Roughly
$400.00.

My savings? 400-60, I saved $340.00, got a camera
that has better features.

With that in mind, I think you're 'argument' doesn't
apply to my situation.

Let's look at the 'what if'. Price for my sony at
purchase was somewhere around $2400.00 USD. Extended
warranty was say $300 (I don't remember, I think it
was a bit less).

So, if I lose the laptop anytime after the manu 1 year
warranty is up, what is my cost? I definitely plan
to use this laptop for a few years, why else would I
purchase it? There isn't going to be anything new
for a laptop that I'll want. CDwriter, wireless,
1394, networking, etc. It's all there. Why change,
upgrade, downgrade?

Ultimately it works out to this, it dies within 4
years I'm out $300 and I get a new one. So say in
2005 it dies. Best buy says, not worth it to fix it,
they give me a $2400 credit. So I get a *new* laptop
which in 2005 will have what? Whatever the new
features are then. For the price of a laptop from
2002.

cheers!
