I also have that model. I did not try the modem but I believe I did have 
problems using the USB modules. What I did have a problem with is the 
battery not lasting as long as it probably should. I sent mine in for 
repairs and I'm waiting to see what SONY has to say about it. What kind 
of errors are you getting with XP?
