You need to turn off apm and turn on acpi. Apm is useless on that model. I have
that same one ;) If ACPI is not working for you then you must recompile the
kernel with the latest ACPI patch:

http://acpi.sourceforge.net/

Then get the latest kernel:

http://www.kernel.org/

Follow the directions on and it whould work on that boxen. Other option is run
SuSE 8.2. ACPI and sonypi are out of box ;) You have to turn on ACPI with GUI
runlevel editor or in the shell. Sonypi come with the out of box kernel too!

Then download and install the sonypid and spicctrl and install those at the
bottom of site:

After than install the sonykeyd and create a script or use the one on that site:

This has worked best for me. This stuff will work on any distro of course if you
know what you are doing ;)
