That is really cool!

I cannot understand why it didn't work for me. Doing
	$ sudo mode2 -d /dev/lirc0
didn't show any output in my case. Well, I hope to have some free time 
someday to try again.

Just a quick question, the infrared port is the same that is used for 
infrared communications between laptops or am I confusing two different 
things?
