Hi Robert,

I understand what you say. What I wouldn't understand is FC5 not 
configuring CONFIG_ACPI and CONFIG_ACPI_TOSHIBA, at least as modules. If 
I were using Fedora, I would call that a bug and report it.

Anyway, I think these are some guidelines to compile a kernel in FC5[1]. 
I hope they help you. If you find the config file that FC5 is using, 
perhaps you could run:

grep -e CONFIG_ACPI_TOSHIBA .config
