I've checked up on the specs to see what the Satellite U205 is using.
It is has Intel 950 graphics The M500 has Intel 945 graphics.

On the M500 suspend (to RAM) works fine and resumes fine - just takes a
long time. Resume is immediate. I suspect that is the behaviour Paulo
is experiencing.

There is no indication in the log.

Both machines have the 3945ABG wireless chipset. However, I have tried
shutting down Network Manager and removing the ipw3945 module.

The M500 has a Toshiba BIOS not an award BIOS. Updating the BIOS made
no difference.

I suspect a driver is holding things up.
