I have a P100-10P -- phoenix bios + intel hda. On 2.6.21 i managed to make the sound work by fixing the DSDT; from what i've read, i think that applies to 2.6.18 as well. (module was loading ok, devices created, just no sound). On 2.6.22 however, sound works without messing with the DSDT. If you can't upgrade your kernel, then first go to http://acpi.sourceforge.net/ and see if somebody has posted a DSDT for your notebook already. If not, you could try one for a similar one, but better get your hands dirty and do it yourself. The catch for the sound to work is modifying the DSDT to tell the ACPI it's running MS Vista. All the info for it is in this thread: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-444743.html You'll also need some backgound info on this, so here's a nice howto: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Fix_Common_ACPI_Problems Once you get a fixed DSDT you insert it into the initrd -- see here: http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml (you're lucky, Suse kernels are already patched with the DSDT loader, so you don't need to recompile).
