Many distributions do seem to be falling over themselves in their rush
to switch to wayland (all a bit reminiscent of when the "major" distros
adopted systemd) but as to how much effort is still needed to get it to
where even an "un-loved" Xorg is, at least in terms of the features that
those who still favour Xorg claim wayland is way behind in: the jury is 
still out.


What might be interesting would be to see what patches to Xorg, that,
for whatever reason, only exist in the Xlibre codebase, might be
backported to Xorg, so as to enhance the original.

It sounds as though the Xlibre developer has burnt the bridges with the
Xorg community, at least those who are in charge of "advancing" it,
however, the claim seems to be that there's a lot of good work that's
been done, but will never be adopted.


If anything, the situation feels a bit like Betterbird vs Thunderbird,
whereby someone got fed up waiting for suggestions and enhancements to
be adopted by the latter, and so forked it into the former.

Just my thr'pen'th though.
