Hi Karl! > Another person on this email list Dave Jenkins also has Fedora Core 3, > and is also having issues, although for him it manifests not as a usb > disconnect, but instead the card (and hence network connection) locking > up. I've tried his solution (putting a 5 second delay into /etc/hotplug/wlan.agent) but that didn't work out. > The cause of that lockup is now understood to be other programs > 'scanning' the card usb attributes after it has been initialised (which > apparently prism usb cards simply cannot handle). See the thread > 'Reliable unreliability with D-Link DWL-122 USB' for details. Hrm... can you suggest any other wlan usb stick which works flawlessly with Linux? I'm starting to think about putting that one back on ebay... > You might like to try temporarily disabling hald and delaying the card > initialising to see if it helps. I disabled the haldaemon, no success either. Is "delaying the card initialising" the same as I did via wlan.agent? During the disconnect dhclient is started again (I configured my network via DHCP), and since an older dhclient process is still running the new one wouldn't set the network config unless I kill it. Even worse: If I can manage this dhclient problem somehow open connections can't be easily resumed (e.g. when I download a bigger file in Firefox). Should one say that the Netgear MA111 is just incompatible with Linux (linux-wlan) as of now? If so, I'd recommend to put such an entry on linuxcompatible.org > I see in your case you have an ohci usb hub, whereas Dave is on uhci. > This *could* be a difference that accounts for different behaviour > (but no promises!). Whats the difference between an ohci and uhci hub? Just another driver for another usb hub or are there other substancial differences? Thanks for your time!
