Ah, but you're assuming that the people doing the moderation make this=20
distinction perfectly.  Unfortunately, humans aren't perfect.

Again, you're missing the point.  The list moderation is part of it, as=20
communication is a crucial component of effectively collaborating on=20
this type of work.  Then there's also the commit access business, where=20
ideally the code for one piece of software lives in one place, and=20
everyone is able to contribute to and benefit from it easily.  That not=20
being the case also establishes artificial barriers that make it much=20
harder to focus on the distribution and just work, which is what you want=
.

I could be totally off base, but possibly as much as some of the people=20
I've come into contact with at work recently, who think that yelling and=20
berating and insulting and bullying people is the best way to get them=20
to do what you want them to do.  Just because they work for a large=20
organization doesn't make them perfect.  BTW, when injustices really are=20
committed against people, and then you criticize them for "pissing and=20
moaning" about it, that's also bullying.
