Re: Skype problem, no signal from (webcam) mike

Finally some progress.  

I found a microphone/headset rig I used once upon a time. When i plugged the microphone cord into the appropriate socket on the PC, my Skype audio started working.  So now the question becomes: How do I tell Skype to listen to the mike in the webcam?

Evidently there is nothing wrong with the webcam mike, it is just that the signal from it is not being routed to Skype.

In Skype I tried this: Options -> Sound Devices -> The only option here is: Pulse Audio Server (local).  Same for Microphone, Speakers and Ringing. Speakers and Ringing works fine, but no sound from the mike.  Actually this makes sense because I am listening to the sound and the ringing via line out on the PC.  

In pavucontrol, Input devices, I can see the QuickCamPro is receiving sound, but I see no possibility for routing it somewhere.

Is there an option somewhere for selecting which mike to use?

I have a feeling the solution is going to be something quite obvious once one knows it... but I suppose that is always the way it is.  

To answer your question: Yes, About Skype confirms that the software used is 2.1.0.81 Beta.
