Konqueror no longer working after recent upgrades

After installing a recnt batch of upgrades, I can no longer start Konqueror.  It seems to be trying for a while, but then gives up.

However, I can start Konqueror from a terminal window, but here it also takes a while, and several screenfulls of error messages are displayed; something like this:

[ole@Ci2010 ~]$ konqueror
QColor::setNamedColor: Unknown color name 'clear'
^[[B^[[B^[[Blibpng warning: Uninitialized row    
libpng warning: Uninitialized row                
libpng warning: Uninitialized row                
libpng warning: Uninitialized row 
  and so on....

After all these warnings, Konqueror appears to be running normally.  I tried to un-install Konqueror and the re-installing it, but it still behaves the same.  What is going on, and how do I get Konqueror running properly again?
