waiting for device to appear

Hello everyone,

I installed Mandriva 2010 on a netbook via live usb. Every time I boot up
the machine it takes 2 minutes to search sdb1 and sdb5 (waiting for device
sdb1 to appear (1 min)), is this normal? I tried searching google for
answers but I could not find anything. Is there a way I could stop it from
doing this (apart from the obvious sticking the drive in)?
