Dear Zane + The Boss (sorry I cannot recall ya names)

As you will be aware, my desktop server will be collect by someone
(from PCH) @ 3:10pm IIRC for some find tuning:

 - Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.1 available since 15 March

Here is a list of the things I require doing:

* Updrage the OS to the above Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.1

* Create an ISO bootable image of the FULL installable system on
either my NexStar Lite (may need wiping first ?) or available
somewhere for downloading via my pewink.org server with its Ethernet
connection

* Please arrange for lessons in use of NexStar Lite and Managing and
Create User Accounts & NexStar external HDD

* The NexStar box seems to work, however the bootup sequence of my
server's BIOS is f*cked !!! You will need to change the boot up
priority order of the BIOS. (BIOS and assembly coding etc have always
remained strange beasts to me)

* Please fix dropbox -- when I first installed it, I had no idea what
I was doing & foolishly ;-O instead of viewing the online video
tutorials I jumped in head first -- moving folders around like
crazy.... the result is that it seems to work ok - except that my
laptop (this pc) is unable, dispite all my efforts to see my servers
dropbox folders. I am a 1 week NEWBIE at dropbox. You may have seen
the email i send to dropbox.com requesting help

* I would like you to please Audit and simplfy the s/w installed,
please apply the K.I.S.S Principle!!! Simplify, Simplify, Simplify!!!
Choose app which have GUI interfaces and have descriptions of easy to
use and no-nonsense programs

* I wish to keep the keyboard shortcuts configured on (this) laptop
and use them on my server. How???

* Please configure pew-YJG8Zpr1/[email protected] email account. The [email protected]
was created created with a view to being the only (or main) contact
email for my website. It was created with a Googlepages account using
my pewtas-Re5JQEeQqe9fmgfxC/sS/[email protected] Please save the email settings so that I can use
them on by laptop & server. Note that on my server I have already
config'd colour labels etc but am not able to set this up further.

* I will try to send (if not already) my Notebook file which contains
my list of things to do on server and a quite detailed description of
my email addresses (less [email protected] email (i
can provide password, I think) which I used mostly for one particular
email yahoogroups.com for the discussion of Christianity and my sex
life in a friendly elist. Not checked in a long time ;-(

* Finally, I wish to consolidate my yahoogroups.com accounts to a
single login with multiple login verified identities which i began to
do yesterday, and got part way done then got lost. I would like to
login as [email protected] which you will find has been taken.... yes, by
me, but I don't know how to recover this.

* I would appreciate help with my Google pages website

* And help with off-line reading. Last time I use Thunderbird
evolution, I did something wrong then the damn server connected to www
for ages trying to download my massive archives of messages. I would
much prefer my message archives to be stored on my server securely for
off-line reading

* Please config Lazarus and Free Pascal and some kind of simple easy
to use no-nonsense GUI based subversion version control system... with
an code browser. In the past I liked the idea of using RapidSVN and
almost had it working, I also want to use Memproof as my debugger with
Lazarus... the help file memproof has instructions re the compiler
options to set to config with Lazarus / Delphi. My friend and
unemployed Delphi comms expert in Canberra, Mike Phillips is an expert
in using Delphi and Memproof

As some of the top brass at Defence used to say "Let's Synergise"
(sounds wanky doesn't it)

# Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring

The latest version of the distribution, 2010 Spring, is set for June.

Other development projects are on schedule, including major software
updates and Mandriva tool improvements, whilst the beta 1 development
version came out on 2nd April. Smart Desktop Mandriva is undergoing
development to further its semantic desktop attributes.

# ARM Port

Several months of sustained work has led to our engineering team
to be able to finalise the distribution port using ARM architecture.

The integrality of packages from the "Main" repository is now available
in the 2009 Spring version. The integrality of these packages will
be available to everyone very shortly. The objective is to integrate
this new architecture into the Cooker development project by June
to offer the community supplementary packages. The initial port was
built on an OpenRD platform using a chip supplied by Marvell.

The aim in integrating this new architecture is to enhance the
conviviality and flexibility of the Mandriva Linux environment
in netbooks, smartbooks, settop boxes... which make up the new
openings for ARM type processors.

# Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.1 available!

The first update of Mandriva Enterprise Server 5, the simple and
innovative Linux server, became available on 15 March. Crammed with
technological improvements, it enlarges the hardware support field
and enhances the selection of available software for greater
reliability and ease of use.

Key points of the update:
 - new virtualisation management tools for KVM and Xen,
 - management of Windows 7 machines in a domain,
 - simple installation via the third party installation assistant
   certified by Mandriva.

# Clone your machines and produce your masters with Pulse 2

Mandriva Pulse 2 offers a unique Web console to manage and administrate
your Linux, Unix, Mac, Windows or other machines.

A module for masterisation/cloning is scheduled for April/May.

This exclusive module will complete the other functionalities already
available: software and hardware inventory, deployment of applications
and updates, secure distant control.

We already presented Mandriva Pulse 2 with its Imaging module
to our prospects and customers on the 30th of March. This event took
place at Ladurée, Champs-Élysées in Paris, which had a great success!

# Security and tracability improved with Mandriva Directory Server (MDS)

MDS is an easy to operate LDAP management directory solution.

It allows companies to manage staff and their access, customers and
partners. The 2.4 version will be published on 22 April and will
offer two new modules.

The audit module permits full monitoring and reporting of all
modifications carried out via the MDS administration interface.

The module's security password management parameters make it possibl
to apply user password rules : complexity, minimum size, length
of validity, etc.

Mandriva Directory Serveur encompasses an identity management system,
directory service administration and network management services.

Mandriva's enterprise offer also includes training and professional
support to give us the capability to deliver specific hand-made projects.

#  XtreemOS 2.1 on the shelves

XtreemOS 2.1 is the result of an ongoing project with 19 academic
and industrial partners into the design and implementation
of an open source Grid operating system including native support
for virtual organizations (VO) ease of use.

This update release includes:
 - Improved installer with a new xosautoconfig tool to greatly simply
   and automate installation of XtreemOS instances;
 - A number of high impact bug fixes, along with work on stability
   and correctness;
 - XtreemFS 1.2, which has a number of new features along with enhanced
   performance and stability;
 - XtreemOS MD (Mobile Device) - This new version integrates XtreemOS
   on Internet Tablets, beginning with the Nokia N8xx. This makes it
   possible to launch jobs and interact with XtreemOS resources via
   a zero configuration client;
 - Virtual Nodes - a framework to provide fault tolerance for grid
   applications by replicating them over multiple nodes;
 - XOSAGA - a set of technologies to allow you to run SAGA compliant
   applications on top of XtreemOS unmodified.

# Mandriva at the Solutions Linux 2010 Trade Show

Carrying on a long-running tradition, Mandriva could be found at
the Solutions Linux 2010 trade show on March 16-18 at the Paris
exhibition center at the Porte de Versailles.

The Solutions Linux 2010 drew over 8,000 visitors and 212 exhibitors.
The event enabled our team to meet Mandriva users as well as newcomers
and to present our range of products, including our education offer
and also to update everyone on the Open Source market.

A succession of animated demonstrations also helped draw over
500 visitors to our stall.

# FOSDEM 2010

Mandriva, of course, took part in the FOSDEM (Free and Open Source
Developers European Meeting) at Brussels which attracted 3,000 visitors.

Mandriva's stall was the centre for many stimulating discussions
with the community and also demonstrated distribution development
projects as well as the ARM port for the first time. In addition,
we participated in the "mini conf" of inter-distributions and in the
presentation of the NEPOMUK and semantic desktop development projects.
