Information from the Videolan forums indicates that we are on a hiding 
to nothing with vlc skins under Linux; better to wait for vlc 1.1 
(available soon).  Compiling that from source is likely to be 
problematic though.  I tried with 1.0.6 and ran in to so many problems, 
dependencies and the like, that I had to give up.  The configuration 
procedure failed to find the fribidi package even though the libraries 
and /usr/bin/fribidi were definitely there.  Let us hope that some kind 
person comes up with an RPM for 2010.* when vlc 1.1 is released.  The 
current version comes from PLF.
