Sorry. Didn't work. I set the repository to:

http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free=20

(as i lack the insight in Debian to find a more relevant one) and ran:

aptitude update
aptitude dist-upgrade

Result: first the update disabled my keyboard and locked up ssh. After that=
 it=20
started asking questions! :) I think on font update.
The only way out was to mouse-click the power-down button and attempt a=20
restart.

As a result, the system as such is still workable, but apt-get, aptitude et=
c=20
is completely borked.=20

So, if i may draw a quick conclusion: Nope. Didn't work.

I strongly assume that it's a KB40 error (the source of the fault located 4=
0=20
cm. behind my keyboard) - i probably selected the wrong repository. Any=20
suggestions to a better one, please ?
