Re: Need help configuring

OK, I'm running on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop.

I haven't used any other PCMCIA cards under Linux, but all other devices
work fine, eg. CD/DVD burner, Firewire drive, docking station, etc.

The 8211 module loads automatically after loading the ds module (I don't
know what this module is for but without it the 8211 module will not
load. Neither would the 3com module or the vt_ar5k mod.)

I tried disabling WEP on the AP, iwconfig still shows:

I have noticed IEEE 802.11-DS appears using any dirver/card. Shouldn't
this read 802.11b? I imagine this has something to do with the ds
module...

I was afraid you'd say these aren't widely used cards/drivers. I tried
to get what I thought would work easily and it seemed that people had
good success with the ADMTEK drivers, that's why I purchased this SMC
card - and it was only 20 bucks :-) I'd get a different card, but seeing
as how I had the same results with every card I am beginning to suspect
a bug in the wireless tools maybe or I'm just missing a step in the
config process.

Thanks for looking at this, I do appreciate it. I'll gladly post any
additional info if this might help someone else down the road.
