FATX support is necessary for accessing memory cards. Joypad and IR support is useful for people with adaptor boxes (and there's already support for similar psx/n64 devices). Also it's not just the kernel where things can be sent upstream; IR support needs adding to lirc, run-time chipset detection to alsa (currently, there is a compile time xbox option in cvs), video patches to xorg.
