Hi, all. This is a report on the Dell 1600n for the printer database. Dell 1600n Multifunction printer, scanner, copier, fax B&W laser printer Claimed 1200dpi print resolution - print quality is fine, but I haven't verified if it achieves this. Suggestions on how to verify it are welcome. Scanner is claimed 1200x600 optical resolution. Has USB, parallel, and Ethernet connections Max papersize 8.5x11 This printer is pretty feature packed. It has a scanner, copier, and fax. The scanner is color or B&W. I have not tested the scanner at all under linux, but supposedly it can do network scanning. Ethernet supports IPP, SMB, and Appletalk protocols. A second paper tray can be added. The Dell CD includes a PPD file, and the printer understands Postscript 3 and some form of PCL. The printer worked perfectly with the provided PPD and CUPS postscript printing. Scanning hasn't been tried, and I've only used the fax as a standalone.
