support of hp psc 1200 series

Dear Gimp-print team, 

I just installed Gutenprint on my Mac. Unfortunately the hp psc 1217 printer is not supported. Are you currently working on a driver supporting printers from the psc 1200 series any time soon? If not, do you know any alternative I could try? 
Thanks in advance. Even though Gutenprint might not work out in my case, I think its a great idea!
