RE: LVS in RedHat 8.0 - required components

Sumesh,

What services are you intending to load balance, just
http (port 80) ? 

What does your NAT Router table look like?  Type
         ipvsadm -Ln    or     -L

and see what the result is, and post it here.

Example, for http port 80, and two real (web) servers,
your NAT table should look like this (with your public
and private side ethernet addresses of course): 

TCP  192.168.1.1:80 wlc
  -> 192.168.2.1:80    Masq    1      0          0
  -> 192.168.2.2:80    Masq    1      0          0

Did you setup an /etc/rc.d/rc.lvs script per the
http://baitz.com/lvs.html documentation for setting up
the NAT table ?

Are you using pulse with two Piranha load balancers?
In other words, do you start lvs with pulse, or lvs
directly?  Do you even see the lvs daemon loaded, and
the nanny daemons loaded to service each port ?
Check with "ps afx"

Even though RH apparently will only support errata
updates on 7.3 for 8 more months (from Apr 03), I
would still recommend it over 8.0 for your Piranha
install. I think 8.0 and 9.0 have been made more into
WS class machines, based on modules compiled into the
kernels.
Believe me Piranha_GUI really comes in handy, and
helps you get familiar with the various lvs.cf
configuration options, including port checking
scripting, etc.
