Thankyou very much for the reply. I tried this to no avail. It is ignoring 800 X 600 because it is not finding a suitable dot clock. A range was found around 25 pixels per second, so it only works for 640 X 480. When I try Driver "sis in the Devices section of XF86Config I get the server crashing with erro message "Unknown device driver keyword" I even tried using XF86_SVGA server but this gave me a really low resolution!
