cannot get my screen in hi resolution

Hi,

I do have Red HAt 7.0 and a proview 17'' screen
"proffesional display screen".

I could not set it to work with Hi resolutionlike
1280X1024 or 1024X768.

Does any body knows how to set resolution for a
screen, in an easy way? (I am using gnome)
