USB Mass storage - only one of two "drives" available

I have two camera memory readers on my system:

1) Olympus Camedia MAUSB-2 smart media reader.
2) Soyo Bayone Compact Flash/Smart Media reader/writer.

Both units are seen by usbview on separate hubs.
1) is listed as SCM eUSB SmartMedia, sharing a hub with my Epson Perfection 
1240U scanner which is recognized and works fine.
2) is listed as SOYO USB Storage Device

1) is assigned to /dev/sda with partition /dev/sda1 by the system as viewed in 
the hardware browser, 2) does not show up in the harddrive table.

The startup log shows the following entries for the usb devices:

How can I get the SOYO unit to be usable?  Changing hubs is not an option as 
it is wired to a connector on the mainboard.

The Camedia unit works, but as described in a previous thread, will not 
mount/remount cards.  Bugzilla 74309.
