Re: Crond process dead

You can look at the following log files:

/var/log/cron
/var/log/cron.1
/var/log/cron.2
/var/log/cron.3
/var/log/cron.4

Or the messages file to see why it stopped running.  It's possible that cron
was killed or crashed, or your system was crashed, and the PID file was not
removed.
