Hi, An update. The machine was running 2.4.19 kernel from kernel.org. I switched to the stock 2.2.14-5.0 that came with the CD and the problem was gone. Is there an incompatibility between the ext2 code on the 2 kernels? Has someone done this on 2.4.xx kernels ?
