I did run into a problem with LyX lately, after not trying it for a long
time: I remember that "keymaps" implied "languages": when you set your
keymap to "Hebrew" you'd type "Hebrew" characters (for Babel). However
now this does not seem to be the case. 

Furthermore, while there are convinient key bindings for toggling
keymaps, the key bindings for changing languages are rather lacking. At
most you can assing one key to switch to language #0 and another one to
switch to language #1.

This means that I can't easily write a document with mixed
Hebrew/English . Which is a shame, because I remember a time where LyX
used to be the easiest way for me to do so.

LyX supports babel, and has explicit support for Hebrew babel. Whether
this is through the older hebfonts or the newer culmus is actually
irrelevant, as the LaTeX document is the same.
