Hi Sibil,
=20
Once you are logged in as yourself in text mode (i.e. RL 3), you may
invoke the gnome session with the following command
=20
# /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-session &
=20
There's a script in Redhat for switching easily between session called
"switchdesk" which basically invokes switchdesk-helper.
Take a look at this for further reference as to how you can manage this
more efficiently.

Rgds,

	Hi Sibil,
=09
	First, in YaST Control Center:
=09
	'Software'->'Software Management' module
	In 'Filter' (top-left) choose 'Selections'
	Verify 'GNOME System' is installed, or
	select 'GNOME System' and install
=09
	'System'->'/etc/sysconfig Editor' module
	'Desktop'->'Display manager'->select 'gdm'
	'Desktop'->'Window manager'->'DEFAULT_WM'->select 'gnome'
=09
	click 'Finish'
	close YaST Control Center
	log out (close session only)
	'Ctl+Alt+F1' (switch to console tty1)
	login as root
	'init 3' (drop to runlevel 3)
	hit your 'Enter' key to regain a prompt
	'init 5 && exit'
	log into desktop when prompted.
=09
	hth & regards,
=09
	Carl
